hi not new to Discovery I ran a server once and played on some servers. now I can seem to play open single player on my pc but my characters do not get saved and I cant go back to previous game and continue . is there a way to save your game in the open single player ?
In game use Help for commands, not need to use slash "/".
There are "save (name)" and "load (name)", also others like "autosave" and "autoload"...
Start playing normal, do what you want... enjoy a lot... hehehe.
When you done, go dock and use "save (game name)" or "autosave", what you prefer, but do not close the game, press ALT+TAB for minimize game, and Copy the files created in "../My Documents/My Games/Freelancer/Accts/SinglePlayer" (Windows XP... LOL sorry) where you want, safe place of your choice.
For loading again, its easy. Just start a new single player game, jump on space and ALT+TAB. Paste back the files in the folder and go back into game, just use "autoload" or "load (game name)"...

Enjoy!!! If you need something, im also Johnywalker in game, See you on space!
Thanks Johny. This still works and lets you play singleplayer in 4,89.
Its a shame the Dev's don't sort out the 'save game' function so its easier to play SP. not everybody has a good connection or the ability to participate in the RP.
I've often thought there should be the choice of selecting a 'Diplomat' character for the very old and disabled players.
It could be neutral to everyone and require a [D] in front of the char name. It could work if it had limited ship (transports only) and weapon access plus a well defined role to stop players exploiting its neutral status. Just a thought.
My question is can we create a POB in single player? Would be nice to make some jump drive, cloaks in a single player mode with all the freedom we have as single player mode.
Another way to play 4.89 in open SP mode is to make a desktop icon for the Freelancer.exe in the Disco folder and just start the game from that icon rather than the Launcher. Its the Launcher that wipes the saved games during the startup.
if you want to play open SP and MP then follow Jonhy's method
