Re-Edit:
Okay. So the more I think about it, the more I think that this would be a neat faction to see revived. I can see the transport divisions of RS funding a private war with the Unioners. In addition to those gimmicky shotgun setups I mentioned, Tigersharks with Stealthblades seem like they would be quite effective. You could also mix Flammenwerfer-C1's with Kusarian Cleansers for a nice mix of 5.88 and 3.03/6.67.
Security assets could also make good use of the AP line, which inRP is easy to obtain (Pay money and sign on a dotted line). Hammerheads have 7(O_o) slots to mount codes, and are just as agile as Wraiths (while perhaps being more fair to use in pvp, since you can actually hit a Hammerhead). If that's not your style, there's always the Bottlenose or Orca for those who are into gunboats (Rheinland missiles on an Orca might be scary), though I would be careful in bringing a Solaris Bottlenose into a snub-fight.
When I was still active, I tried to set up a new Republican faction RGS|, though that project has faded into oblivion due to low interest.
And although I will not return to disco anymore, I am glad that someone tries to revive Republican again. If you need help I suggest you talk with @SMI-Great.Fox.
I am sure he will gladly try to help you out with any revival of Republican Shipping.
EDIT:
He might even have the old RGS main account @Republikanische Großspedition if I am not mistaken. You can use that if he is not against it. I don`t mind if you use that one for the new Republican Faction.

I've got a question about this particular line.
Let's say I'm a Republican security asset. A wingman and I happen to bump into an UN| transport.
Given that we can attack Unioners anywhere, we're fully in our right to just blow up the transport. But, what if we don't want to? Transporters are sometimes just shippers after all, and being part of a shipping company myself, I might take that into consideration and simply engage in a little corporate piracy against a hostile entity.
Since Unioners are the unlawful ship manufacturers of Sirius, does that not make them a corporation in a sense?
I guess what I'm asking is, could Republican pirate Unioner transports so that, for the sake of RP, someone doesn't have to die? Or are we stuck with just roughing the Unioner up a bit and letting him go after his ship is thrashed?
Technically that´s violation of ID rules, because Unioners are not a corporation in any way, even less from rules point of view.
Thus only option would be that other side would accept this roleplay solution and there would be some sort of gentlemen agreement. If there is no report, there is no sanction.
True, there's always that. I figured I would ask, anyways, and I suppose a gentlemen's agreement might be worth hammering out between an RS reboot and UN|. At the end of the day, it's all pixels, but the meat and potatoes of RP is what gives those pixels life and meaning. Coming up with fun, alternative ways for encounters to end could be nifty, since being blown up while trying to smuggle supplies can be frustrating.

If RS revived itself, I'd happily not blow up RS until they're well-established and prepared to do PVP with us.
