She stopped making coffee but keep staring at the machine. There was technically nothing on her timetable today that would require her immediate, undivided attention. She took a deep breath and turned around, facing Ezrael with a light smile. "I do enjoy a glass of wine from time to time. My pilots won't drink water at the bar either." She said and slowly walked over to another cupboard, opening it and pulling out a bottle of wine and two glasses and the cork screwer.
"I am not immediately needed anywhere right now..." She said and walked over to him, handing him the bottle while she placed down the glasses and the cork screwer. Through all the trade going in and out of not only Marshall, but Bristol and the Freeport too, there was a lot to be gotten rather easily if it wasn't in high amounts. This was gallic wine though most wine she had in stock was from Liberty and some from Rheinland.
Gallic wine. Expensive import, but that was probably the best thing about being with the unlawful scum of Bering. Although, the Unioners probably didn't import this. More likely the guys at Freeport 2. It looked like he was in her good books, getting to share a bottle of wine with her. And good one, too. "Gallic wine is undeniably the best one. They really have a hand for that. Fruity, sweet, very satisfying to drink." Standing up again to open the bottle for her, he did in a way that made obvious he had experience with it. A moment later, he filled her glass, then his. Lovely color. Sitting down again, he raised his glass in her direction, wanting to chink with her. "To the priviledges of the higher-ups, Admiral."
She sat down and watched him open the bottle, glad she picked the right bottle. He seemed to value these things instead of wasting them and she liked that. At his toast she had to smile amused again. She'd never thought to enjoy these luxuries. "With pleasure." She said and let her glass carefully clink against Ezrael's.
"I do admit this was not exactly the way I thought this day would pass." She said still smiling at him, now taking the first sip of the wine. It really was good and she was glad to have picked a relaxed day as this one where she could fully enjoy it.
Looking into her eyes while they chinked, Ezrael gave her his typical smirk. The sip was nice, a good wine. Whoever got her that one probably wanted to impress her with it. Leaning back, playfully holding the glass with a little swing to it, keeping the fluid slightly in motion. Then he stopped, eyeing her again. "It obviously is a positive surprise. Can't think of an admiral who smiled at me almost the entire time." Admittedly, this was indeed way more relaxed than he expected it. But then again, he made the experience that many things were easier when it was about a man and a woman. His one very successive trait often worked wonders in these cases.
She was flattered, feeling warm. Slightly confused but overall good. "I don't get a lot of chance to smile here really." She said but despite that being a regretful sentence there was no regret in her voice. She was just enjoying the company and smiled at her guest.
"I assume you don't have to return to your ship very quickly either?" She asked hopeful but hoping that wasn't noticeable in her voice.
"I have plenty of time, don't worry," he gave her back, his smirk slightly fading away. "What do you do in your little free time to forget about your worries? I take it you don't just move over to the civilian area and shop new clothes you rarely get a wear?" He was pretty sure she was not the kind of person who was enjoying hobbies she could share with other people.
A light chuckle followed by a sip of wine. "That'd also not be very relaxing, there's many people who'd like to talk to me." She said hoping he didn't think she felt herself too important. But sadly she was. She had to manage a lot on this ship and on all installations. "I don't actually enjoy a lot of free time. What little time I have I usually spend just trying to relax. I lack the calm these days to read and you can't exactly go for a walk here." She said amused how she suddenly yearned for such a simple thing. The Freeport at least had bio domes something Marshall was lacking right now.
"And what do you actually do?" he asked her, since she avoided to answer exactly. His smirk grew bigger again, she was clearly enjoying this. "If that question isn't too personal, that is." After all, he wouldn't be very keen to talk about his hobbies right now.
A bit of a sigh before she'd answer: "I try to sleep or just rest, enjoy a cup of tea. But I can't often calm down so I just end up doing work here instead." She admitted. There was a book on her PDA open that she'd managed to read till page 13. "Sometimes I head to the gym but that's been weeks ago now as well." She added. She wasn't out of shape but felt like she could visit more often.
"Sorry. No fancy hobbies. Maybe if I have the time one day."
He nodded, giving her a sound of understanding to it. "So you have been forced to take over command over thousands of people, ships and at least two stations I know about, lead diplomatic talks, do deals with factions and little adventurers like me, you fight battles and do all the paper work, but you have nobody to really talk about it, no hobby that gives you some distraction and the worst of it is that you rarely get to laugh. Right now, your duty is all that is your life," he summed up, looking at his glass first, then at her to see her reaction. "All that makes you appreciate dealing with a professional amateur like me. You want to talk about it, you want to smile. Just forgetting about all the concerns and smile cheerfully for a moment. And so you do. And that all because I don't know what the correct etiquette is and just treat you like a human instead of a rank." He took another sip of his wine. Maybe he just went too far." And what a nice smile you have."
