Ok, I'm not *that* old.... but put it this way, I was around when Pong was "it".
Arcade games cost 20c a go. Then along came the Atari 2600... free, unlimited games of Space Invaders, Packman, Asteroids, right on your TV!!! Course, they weren't as good as the arcade games, but hey it was free.
During the 80's my dad bought me a Vic-20 computer. I remember thinking clearly as if it was yesterday: "OMG!!! What did I do before home computers came out??? Man I pity the saps who had to go through life before home computers, they must have been soooooo bored!"
Fast forward twenty years. Now the tune is: "OMG!!! What did I do before Freelancer came out??? Man I pity the saps.... blah blah"
So to answer my own question, what did I do before FL? Well, I played alot of Doom, Age of Empires, Theme <whatever>, <whatever> Tycoon, and Myst <whatever>.
But none of that matters now :yahoo:
Anyway thanks for indulging my nostalgic stream-of-consiousness blather.
Uhh... I think of my life as. BFL and DFL. Post Freelancer, and During Freelancer. Uhh. BFL was kinda... well... I didn't live BFL.... I was Born... playing Freelancer on Viruses old laptop. :D
I touched a pc for the first time when i was 7. And played my first game on it about age 10 it was called wacky racers and it was cool back then. I also played Time Commando man i loved that game. Any one know where can i get a copy? Anyway after that i got interested in sim city games (yes i still have the frist one lying around here). By age of 12 in school i played my first war game C&C Tiberian Sun after that Ive been addicted to war games ever since. I still played alot of maxis games and even went into trasport tycoon (i forgot how i made it run on xp :P ). my other war games were age of empires 1 & 2 and C&C Red Alert and the roller coster tycoons. I got into MMORPGs when i was 13 and stared with runescape it was good at the time then it got bad. I lasted 2 years there and just started wandering for more mutiplayer games. Over that time i visted and lasted little in shattered galaxy, knight online, space cowboy, and a few others. I got to like Navy field and was able to play for about a year (until you had to pay to play after a certian lvl. I found Subspace Continuum about 3 years ago and still play it. And as for my other history in PC games i got into the sims still play sims 2 :P . I got a pirated version of Empire Earth, Freelancer and GTA 1& 2. And i came here to this mod like 7 months ago :) .

Well, does Elite mean anything to someone? And Commodore-64?
I played many games... btw, anyone remember Pac-Man?

damn docking.....
made me nearly loose my fun...
Amiga-games.... WingCommander...
PackMan ??? geez.... you're going into history, real deep....
I've become a "Settler" (I,II,III,IV inclusive the gold-edition)
Played it every minute, I had... :yahoo:
Thanks Microsoft, for spoiling my fun... doesn't run anymore on XP - and Vista, I guess will be the same... :angry2:
But... at least I found FL, then, while looking for a new passion...
Thanks Microsoft... even you stopped supporting it... that brought up, discovery... and that's the best...
Er... I've no idea what I was doing before I got addicted to this game, probably painting several hundred guardsmen models for warhammer 40,000...
This is the first game I ever played on-line, it was fun. Lots of friendly people, admins etc.
Then I got banned off a FL vanilla mod for using speed mod, which I didn't even have on the PC let alone running.
So I thought, what the hell, lets have a look at these 'mods' tried a few, found discovery, been here ever since.

Why do u think the tradelanes/jumpgates/asteroids here are a piece of cake to me?
Had extensive training before I found the Docking Computers and when I found them, they became useless as I was faster manually :P

@Caribe: Try searching the internet for "abandonware".
Well, ive allways played space sim games. I began with the X-Wing alliance.
The simcity saga, hated it after a few hours of gameplay. It got so boring once the city was established...
I played StarCraft a lot, altough never through intenet, but in cybercafes against my hi-school mates.. Allways liked stratrgy games, and i think Starcraft is the best RTS ever made... (I look forward to a SC II)
Never played FPS too much on line, 'cept for counter strike at which i wasnt too good... I only played the SP of games like doom, quake, HL, etc...
Then i found Tachyon, and then FL.
I dont play much now. Ive played oblivion (completed the main quest and many side quests) but barely. And FL when i have time to spare in a game...
(If you find any mistake in my English, please let me know via a PM)
(Really, I speak terrible English, so please, tell me if I make mistakes. I'd like to improve it a bit )
Korrd i tried but it seems the last time that game was seen on the internet was in the year 2002 :( . And as for FPS (i forgot to add them) i used to play Hitman (i never passed the lvl where your in the port for i always ran out of ammo even if i used 1 bullet per person) and in this past school year i played halo (for pc) in school every day in lunch. At first i was the nearly worst player in the game, the last few months however if i wanted to have the loosing team win all i had to do was change sides (hardest person to kill if in a scorpion or banshee  ). Yea i became a power icon too bad this was my last year in school i was really starting to enjoy something about it (though the other players including the computer teacher were happy i was leaving :P i just beat them all  . After that i havent touched halo though if some one challenges me im willing to get it to just have some fun  .
