Our ships are competitive. I'd wager on the Vengeance-armed Liberator over the Suntiger-armed Eagle any day of the week; our ships are better, your guns are better. Balances it out. Plus, we're not a PvP-intensive faction, mostly we just sit around Liberty making jokes at our own expense.

What are you talking about? The topic came up from constantly seeing fighters using codenames and getting tired of it.
You're accusing me of saying "indies = bad, factions = good"... yet ALL of my characters ARE independents.
Just because you're an independent doesnt mean you dont have access to decent weaponry, but that weaponry -should- follow the faction that your ship/character is a part of. Some factions have worse weaponry than others, that's part of the game.
I don't think they should be restricted but I'd personally like to see people would have to put a RP story under on how they obtained codename guns and nomad guns since their not like lets say known to the general public?
I could easily write a story on how I got my 4 nomad guns.

I like this mentality- if the question is shaky RP, deal with it like so. If the person has a bunch of Nomad guns, assume either research or collusion with the Nomads. If they have a lot of codenames, then assume an explorer or research person. Not that big of a problem.
What bugs me is people having no trace of faction equipment other than tag/ID- if I see someone like that, I will assume they are a spy. Again, RP issue, RP solution- server rule not necessary.

That wasnt flame, but lot of people have exacly THIS story. Sadly.

i alway apply a story for my gun dealer Wellington(When he was active)you cant just find gun eternally and for be logic if you found one on a wreck after is empty,its not suppoe to regenerate so at the basis we are supposed to have 1 codename of each max and only one player can have it.
[Wellington] story wa based on the Nomads power cell ,this device are supposed to be able to construct large Nomads gate,Wellington and jonathan chapters have modify the structure of the power cell for make him produce Codename weaponery.
now I was the ONLY gun dealer who have a story like that for have a good RP to detain all these gun.

Oh yes lets keep restricting game play. I have a few more ideas you can run with.
All independent character ships will be registered on the "Dissident Ship List" Every ship will receive a individual convict identification number.
Weekly scan of all independent vessels by ZOI faction members. Failure to have ship scanned once a week will result in server ban. Failure to meet ZOI faction's weapons restriction of Lv1 weapons will result in server ban.
Mandatory Skype chat request of ZOI faction leader before any independent character ship can undock into space. Failure to wait for undocking authorization codes will result in server ban.
Mandatory ship travel log. Every system jump, station dock must be logged and handed over to the ZOI faction leader.
For every one independent character in game you must have two faction characters. Failure to maintain ratio will result in server ban.
Creation of independent characters is forbidden unless approval is granted from the "Discovery Inner Circle Ubber Members" Failure request permission will result in server ban.
All capital ships are restricted to faction leaders and "Discovery Inner Circle Ubber Members". Failure to obey restriction will result in server ban.
Any form of gameplay enjoyment is considered taboo. Self respect, individuality, independent thoughts and any other feeling of being alive will result in a server ban.
