Rename the 'Razgriz black hole' meme to something not conceptually absurd.

What's wrong with 'The Abyss'? Why do we need to import names from the Ace Combat universe, including concepts that do not exist anywhere except the ace combat universe.


Are we really that uncreative? I'm not ragging on about Outcasts right now, but that black hole is ridiculous and immersion ruining instead of cool, simply because somebody, at some point, decided to geekily recycle verbatim the intellectual property of a separate universe. Reducing disco development names to what is essentially fanfiction is like me bringing in Spock because I really want to see some gay Trekian slash fiction and can't keep it out of discovery. This is textbook Geekery. It's so below the standards of present development that its continued appalling name must be an oversight. We can't recycle elements of other universes just because we're feeling too moronic to be creative in an RP videogame.



It's not as if Ace Combat is especially thematically relevant in 2018<.

You're just making issue out of nothing right now. This is the first time I've ever heard of it being from Ace Combat (Even having played one of the games, even if only one). There's nothing wrong with the name, and there's no reason to change it. This is quite literally a non-issue you're trying to make an issue.

Quite frankly, I never even knew it was from other source material. I always thought the name was what it was actually given, and seeing as how it's in the Outcast Guard system, and Outcasts are Hispanian, and Razgriz sounds hispanic.. hmm...

The 101st Ghosts of Razgriz were a faction for some ten years before they finally packed it in due to inactivity and the environment changing around them, and people liked them. Back in the day they were absolutely stellar folks.

I cannot complain about what were once imports back in the old days of .83 and .84 changing themselves and becoming staples of game lore. Doing so would be self-defeating, as my faction was originally just an elaborate series of Dream Theater references.

Does Razgriz even have the same functionality and appearance in Ace Combat as its Disco counterpart? Nope, in Ace Combat it's a mythical creature, not a black hole.
Stellaris has Standard Construction Templates (WH40k) as a technology, Soylent Green as a pirate ship name, Gamma Draconis (Freespace 2) and Arrakis (Dune) as system names. And nobody bats an eye.
