||Background
Xander Wylde or ‘Xan’ known by his closest affiliates is an ex-LSF officer with Bretonian origins that activated for around 5 years as an engineer inside the R&D Division of the respective group. Initially having the name of Cromwell, he was abandoned right after his birth and found by a Libertonian family. The Wylde family was notorious for their continued tradition as serving the military, having a past in both Security Forces and the Navy.
Despite being treated as equally as they could Xander always felt a fainted differences between himself and his stepbrother, Alec. The latter was always the typical “captain of the football” team type, taking all the attention and fame, but that was rather convenient for Xander, as his more introvert personality saw “protection” in Alec. They had a great relationship for some good years as Alec was always intrigued by Xander’s affinity towards math and logic, being usually the victim of his stepbrother’s mind games and challenges. As returning the favor, Xander was always supportive and helping in Alec’s most important decisions and gave him slight boosts of morale using his straightforward determinism.
As they grew, ambitions were different, their purposes in life were different. Their father pushed them harder in their final teenage years to choose the military career path. Alec conformed easily but Xander on the other hand, desired to take the scientific path of the military. He considered it more just for his talents and affinities. As their father was a long-time military man, still being active during their admission to the Academy and respectively to the Manhattan Academy of Science, he wanted to create a dynasty of military men.
Given that, upon hearing the final decision from Xander, he lost his nerves and began to yell at him, criticizing that’s not for him, that he will be ridiculed and laughed upon, “ that the most failures end up serving the Officers’ ship’s asses.” That didn’t moved him a bit until his father blindly insulted him by revealing that he knew he would fail him for he is not a Wylde after all. Alec was confused and so was Xander, but his father made it all clear afterwards. Xander found out that he was actually of Bretonian blood and the shock on Alec’s face was genuine.
That was the first time in his life when he felt like all of his achievements and all that he represented were frauds. The people that cared for him the most, were lying to him. Alec was right next to him, supportive and being the good brother he always been, but things started to become more and more different in the following years. As time passed, Xander started to be colder and colder with his family, even his once the closest friend, Alec. Being passionate and dedicated to engineering he started to do several case studies regarding a variety of thesis about space mechanics and their effects on vessel propulsions. During his 20s, he participated in a series of debates with professors from the most famous universities over Sirius.
Each accomplishment in his academics were a step further away from his father. Alec on the other hand finished the Westpoint Academy and quickly followed up the military career that was dreamt by his old man. Alec had brief encounters with him, but the disdain in Xander’s eyes was higher each time they had to see each other. His foster family was following his achievements only through intermediaries, local news and other means, as they got into a point where they couldn’t reach him.
Xander finished his education at 25 and he was one of the few cases of early PhD propositions for his talents and knowledge he accumulated, but for a reason he refused the title as he was just following his drive to become a space engineer.
|| Post Graduation and activity in the LSF The following information about Xander Wylde are to be considered rumors and not accurate information.
Considering the fact that he refused to have any connection with his foster family and especially his father, when he applied for the position of a propulsion engineer, his request was to be enlisted under another name. Given to the Liberty policies, the LSF could not grant his wish entirely, but he being a different case and his talents were obviously useful, they accepted to hide his application/file from any queries aside from his superior officer only.
Pulling several strings, he managed to obtain his initial demands, having a relative interesting life over the LSF. For around 5 years, Xander Wylde worked incredibly hard on a series of jumpdrive technologies and various sub-light propulsion mechanisms that improved the efficiency of various class ships with good percentages. It was recorded by the LSF that their operations were boosted with a 50% efficiency in these years, each year gradually with 10%.
At a point in time, the space engineering was relatively boredom to him as he assimilated all needed information and since, he refused his PhD to be included in a series of research processes or various meet-ups between Sirius’ notable scientists, he started to look for new frontiers on his own. Around his 5th year of work in LSF he managed to become completely anonymous, for he found ways to make his record as sublime as possible. It is not known if this was a planned occurrence or just simple coincidence, but he used both his reputation and his “hacked record” to access a series of data that were not really meant for anyone’s eyes.
Upon browsing he found some various research papers on some sensitive subjects like the Nomad War, prototype systems, heuristic operations on various experimental groups, dr. Synk’s papers about Sirian technology’s origin. From all these he got intrigued about finding more information about these “Nomads”. Since he couldn’t do this research on his own, he found a quite remote place on Baltimore Shipyard, he pretended to be some helping crewman of the lower decks, which mostly were not even cared by the staff and so, he made there his little sanctuary of knowledge.
In time he made contact with various people that were having similar ideas as he did. All of them were trying to unearth a series of classified information regarding the secrets of Liberty and beyond. What was intriguing was that this “Net” he made with these people, had members from all sorts of domains, some were professors, some were retired officers, civilians, and so on. It was mainly hosted on his home over Baltimore and in a relatively quick time it was a considerate community. The veil around this community’s true purpose was made in a way so they could look just like hopeless conspiracy theorists.
All until one day when his little information empire started to collapse abruptly. It all happened when someone uploaded to the Net a direct feed from the Alaska system. The video included a series of unusual alien designs that were in contact the Liberty ships around the low orbit of an apparent barren world. It was the first time when Xander saw an actual Nomad entity. As he watched the video, he saw the Liberty fighters going willingly into the unusual looking entities, being completely engulfed. The Liberty ships retreated to the planet and the entities just vanished.
Xander was so shocked about what he saw that he forgot all safety protocols he used and started to stream to the rest of the members of his community. Some of the accounts were seized even before he received the transmission. He knew everything went haywire. He had moments till the Navy would’ve come quickly to storm Baltimore out for him. Using a service ship, he left the base with the fleets approaching. Faking his trails of a standard vessel, the officials took too long to figure out later that the small vessel that passed their scans, to be actually his.
Taking with him whatever he managed to get from the community’s database, he flew through a series of jumpholes reaching the frontier worlds. He almost had everything planned, except only that his trail was not so hidden as he thought, for the Navy's agents were having an eye on him long before he knew. In a matter of hours after his dangerous escapade, even the Freeports received full details with his figure, full name, each activity he did, with great accuracy. The accusations were incredible : theft of Liberty property, 10 official murders accompanied by other 20 missing people; most of them being part of his Net; destruction of Liberty and civilian affairs, imminent danger.
From the little he got, he bought a Sabre, abandoned his previous ship which he rigged and went to his destiny in the Edge Worlds.
|| The Edge of Sirius and Current Status The Omicroners do not know of him even nowadays since his skill in elusiveness got improved, because of his last episode in Liberty, that most likely would’ve cost him his life. Some people that managed to identify the individual were referring to him as “Xan”. They had no idea who he truly was, they only knew that wherever he passed through, certain technical things worked better.
Rumors also indicated that he started to be interested and got to know the exotic technology of the Nomads and even that of the synthetic beings. Some say he went into one of the Nomad worlds and came insane, or that he created this image of him being a crazy lonely man, that likes to get near danger and look into its eyes.
Those that confirmed his whereabouts, said that Xander usually an observer, he knew a lot of events, a lot of individuals but nobody knew him. Some considered he was an agent of the Order, given his shady approach of things. Some people from the Core said that they saw him around one of their stations but not actively as being part of them, but only to trade information. At a point in time he was interested in an old Thresher, which he eventually bought. The vessel was never used as its condition was beyond a normal engineer’s capabilities.
His current location in Sirius is catalogued as unknown.
