So yesterday there was a discussion in one of the discord servers i am in about a person playing a Freelance Pirate ship run by escaped slaves who liberated slaves to freedom. Which got me thinking about the possibility if a new smuggling commodity. Escaped Slaves:
Quote:
Escaped Slaves
Since the dawn of human civilization Slaves have made up the backbone of the working class and since that time slaves have tried to escape, to their homes or states/nation's at opposition to their captors in hopes of seeking revenge on those who mistreated them. Today it is no different, slaves escape daily from Malta via kind hearted smugglers willing to risk the Maltese’s Wrath. Unfortunately, some pilots look only to cash in on the ripe bounty their owners will pay for their return.
Buy points:
Primary: Planet Malta, Omicron Alpha
Secondary: Alacara Shipping Depot, Omicron Tau
The logic here being these are slaves who through their own determination, sheer luck, or the kindness of strangers have managed to escape to freedom(or are trying to) Their main location of production would be Malta with the secondary buy point being Alcara shipping depot. (think BMM/BMLA sell points). with their destinations being either to a lawful organization (Rho) or to people who would want to shelter slaves and bring them in to bolster their own population(Coalition/Corsairs) or to a location where they would be taken to re-enter the Slave trade(Allentown)/end up somewhere worse then Malta(Ecomoy).
Why this commodity is needed?
Well, it fills a roleplay that many people have done for a while and gives the chance for them to make a bit of coin from it too. The Coalition has for years RolePlayed that it imported liberated slaves from Malta, The Core I could also seeing importing them. It also opens a chance for other groups to roleplay around it even a group that might spring up to Rp Undermining the Outcasts slave trade. I imagine that it would be a smuggling commodity that most of the houses would still recognize as contraband initially.
Told you this on discord and I'm gonna say it here again because you didn't really address it there: I really fail to see what adding yet another commodity like this really adds to the overall game when the same effect could probably just be accomplished by adding a coalition buy-point to the already existent slave commodity.

Also yes, what Shinju said. If you're exposed to Malta's atmosphere for anything more than a few minutes- it's basically game over at that point if you weren't wanting to get Cardamine dependency. Seeing as I don't see Cryer lining up to support the communist revolution, and seeing as the Coalition lacks any major source of malta-grade cardi (which remember; only usably grows on Malta), I don't really see how the incredibly resource limited Coalition can support a sudden influx of cardi-dependant slaves.
Thats now by 2 major angles this dosen't make sense.

It'd make sense for any other place of slavery than Malta, as Malta has a very well thought-through concept for slaves. There is no place in Sirius where slaves are treated as philantropic as on Malta. The maltese houses are to ensure healthcare for their slaves and iirc after 20 years of serving they become free members of the maltese society, ensuring some fresh meat in the maltese population as natural births from non-slaves on Malta are a rare thing that get a special attention. Long story short, you'd literally be better off doing this with any other source of slaves, be it Pittsburgh or something. And then you have the cardamine-addiction, where Stabiline is merely a solution for rich people - something slaves are not.

Coalition and Core already have them, btw. I see additionary fun only if make it like additionary atmosphere sell point, requiring team-play like on Leeds.
Fair points on the cardi dependency maybe not specifically Malta but thats why I noted Alcara depot as a potential point, a point where they would escape before ending up on Malta.

Considering how random and wacky defections are I don't think the concept of Slaves escaping, or wanting to escape rather, from Malta is too unbelievable. A slave is a slave after all.

So where would you suggest? only other place I can think of is Omega-11 DHC Slaves maybe... I am open to suggestions I just think the ability to do a Slave Liberation RP would be far more feasible with a good commodity to run.
