Primarily, I want every guard NPC to be given Train Cruise Disruptors so they can catch and put an end to the smugglers/traders using guard systems as shortcuts.
Additional guard NPC's and patrol paths placed around all entrances/exits to guard systems wouldnt hurt either. The weapon platforms arent enough to stop anyone in anything larger than a starflea.
All I can say is they are deadly as it is.
Quite possibly make the guards hate players even more to start with? As even with train disruptors, they won't attack if the guy has fixed his rep.

If their rep is 'fixed' for the purposes of smuggling through guard systems, they're OORP and can be sanctioned (which will result in a rep fix and fine by the admins).
Giving the guards train CD's will allow them to take out the people smuggling with trains, large trains, and advanced trains - the guard npc's dont have much of a problem with smaller ships.
Just finished reading the thread I linked to. Have to say I agree with the disruptors. My only problem is if someone is being escorted through, but is hostile. Like I was. It was hell in a handcart getting through without them having train cds...
But for the main, as was said, they are military check points, no matter who it is.
