Mi knew they were going to cloak in a few moments so she quickly replied to Meg. "I doubt we will ever try to kill each other." She just chuckled a little, pressed the button for the cloaking device and checked if the computer was going for the right course, hai, it did.
The Arran Ice field became less dense untill they were suddenly back in open space. The faint trail of tiny ice crystals was the only clue that the ships were now in the system and heading to planet Gaia.
Meg takes a sip of the tea which had gone cold by now, but she did not care. Infront of her was planet Gaia, she had returned for her objective and this time no one but Mi knew they were there.
Mi became nervous at the sight of Gaia. Finally they were at their goal! Only the landing now.. she constantly checked the computer data, ensuring she's not losing Meg's ship.
In the distance a lone Imperator was seen. It looked lost in a way. They flew past it and paid no further attention to it. Gaia was drawing closer and the windows of Meg's ship darkened in response to the system's stars getting closer aswell.
Mi noticed the Imperator a few moments later than Meg. She sighed relieved. For once just taking stuff had been worth it. She imagined having had to escape this thing and then still manage to land undetected on Gaia.. this cloaking device was a damn lifesaver!
Megaera looked at her screen. It indicated that cloak battery was now at 64%. The Imperator was left behind them and it soon vanished off the scanners. No new signatures were visible.
Meg took another sip, then dropped a nuclear mine. Two seconds later she heard an explosion, indicating that Mi was still behind her.
Mi was just checking her cloaking battery status when she heard an impact warning sound. She looked up and barely managed to evade the mine. It struck her Bayonet's left wing. The cloaking device failed and countless warning sounds appeared.
She lost speed and didn't manage to change the direction properly anymore. She sighed, such a good hit.
"Meeeeg! I said we aren't at killing yet! You.. I will.."
She cut the comm off and without any further notice moved towards Gaia. Hoping the hull would withstand a landing. Slowly she entered the atmosphere, Meg still on her scanners. It was a rough ride, half of the outer plates on the left side of her vessel said goodbye, the clouds were in front of her now.. the scanner started to malfunction.
Mi decided to turn them off and fly by sight.. reverse thrust didn't work properly either. She saw only one option, landing.
She aimed for the shore of a small lake.. she didn't even know if Meg was behind her or not.
Hit.. the ship's main structure damaged, majority of its systems systems offline. Scrap parts gathering around the spot the ship touched the sand. Mi was wounded. A cut at her left arm and forehead. She was still sitting in her seat, barely realizing what just happened.
Megaera set her engines into reverse thrust to prepare for the landing on Gaia and saw the bayonet fly past her, almost scraping the bottom of her own Sichel. There was smoke coming out of its left wing and as soon as it entered the atmosphere, the oxygen ignited it into a fireball.
The communications system made a buzzing noise and then she heard Mi's distorted voice. "Mee..g! ...said we... killing yet! ...You..."
The transmission ended and Mi disapeared behind a cloud. Megaera deactivated the cloaking device and followed Mi's scanner signal.
After a while Megaera saw the smoke comming from behind a tree-line and, upon aproaching the source, saw Mi landed on a sandy beach.
The Sichel landed close to the trees and not far from the Bayonet.
The side door of the Sichel opened up and Megaera set foot on the sand of the beach. She walked toward the smoking Bayonet and saw Mi in the cockpit looking at her. Meg knocked on the window.
Mi's sight was slightly blurred and she had a few issues standing up, why wasn't certain as of now. "Arghh.. Y.. you know I was supposed to return it back? It's all scrap thanks to you." She carefully picked up two bags with stuff for their journey, hoping atleast a few parts of the equipment survived the crash. Then she opened the cockpit door and stumbled out of it.. falling on the ground. Groaning. Stupid crashlanding..
