I'm off now. I am leaving the dev team and ceasing all work on my various projects, this includes any and all updates to DSCore, FLHook, Client Hooks, and so forth. My last actions will be providing the new 2.2 patch for Launcher, and potentially processing my pull requests if Alex gets around to them. @PKPower has ownership of The Collective now.
I hope the game does you all well. You can catch me on Discord if you need me. Goodbye.
EDIT:
In all honesty, I wasn't planning on doing anything more than I already have and I was just going to call it quits with my notice (after allowing for the updates I promised, that is). At most, I was going to make a post about my reasons, given over 30 people have messaged be about it now, and I'm aware that my chat logs with @Unseelie are circulating. I could go into great detail about how being ignored for weeks at a time made me lose incentive to develop, or how my skills were feeling wasted, but that doesn't really matter. Most people have seen the chat logs by now, and know my reasons for handing in this notice. I would also like to add, that I don't want any blame tossed in the direction of @Alex.. I know he is busy and he shouldn't get any flak.
I'm not going to do that though. There is something I find more distasteful, and frankly insulting. Something has come up that I feel must come out. Up until now, I've been rather silent regarding the devs actions of late, because, ultimately, I didn't really care. Given the message I saw this morning though, I must speak up.
This right here is @Xalrok denying the launcher updates (that have been ready since before I posted my notice, I might add) due to the fact I am no longer a dev. These are the updates that contain major fixes, as well as the account file backups that were requested. These are not the actions of someone who is looking out for the community. This is not the first time that the community will have suffered due to similar actions.
If you all stretch your minds back to the original dev take over, the game got rolled back several days. This wasn't because of a lack of backups, as Skorak offered to provide the backups to the devs. @Xalrokdenied this (weird how the post was deleted, huh). Through the paranoia, the community suffered. I'm not letting that happen again. For this reason, I have decided to make the DSLauncher open source, something that should have been done right from the start. I have moved it over to my Github, licensed under GNU GPLv3, and removed the developer back-doors that were put in place to stop the old Admins from allowing people to connect to the old server.
(To get the new version, go to the releases tab and download the two exe files and replace your existing launcher. After doing so, open the launcher and hit the 'Set New Launcher Patch Server' button. It'll prompt you for input, type in "https://github.com/LazDisco/DSLauncher/raw/patch/patchlist.xml" without quotes.)
I am saddened I've felt the need to do this. I really am, I've spent a long time building up my reputation within this community after my ~2016 disaster, and I think I've done that pretty well. Many of you know I'm not one to cause problems where none exist, and for it even rarer for there to be a post like this one. Many of the devs, and community members, know how I feel about this game, and that I've always tried to do whatever I can to help out. @Durandal, @Lythrilux, @PKPower, @kenshin156, and a whole host of others have heard me talk with passion about my ideas and shit that I've wanted to do for this game and community. New features, mechanics, programs. Hell, just look at the PoB rework. I spent months upon months of my life on that; got it into a state where it could actually replace the current plugin. However, nothing will ever come of it.
After everything that has happened, it feels like the people have failed at the main job they took upon themselves. We expected community leaders. We got bosses. A community leader works to support those under them, work as a team, and ensure everyone is happy and content; enjoying the experience being provided to them. A boss works towards their own ends, and discards those that do not align with their own view. That's what we have.
I am conflicted now. I wanted to stay around and play the game, enjoy myself, but at this point, I don't think I can. Almost everyone who knows me knows that I don't want to cause problems, drama, or anything else. Most know that I wouldn't post this stuff if I didn't think it was something that needed to be said. I will be taking an indefinite time away, developing my other projects, like Raven, and potentially contributing towards projects like Librelancer; and playing games. Should anyone want to play games with me, message me over Discord and I'll toss you an invite to my game server. Got a number of peeps there where we play Star Wars: Jedi Academy, Rimworld, The Mean Greens, Space Engineers, and a whole host of other games. Option is open for friends.
I am sad it has come to this, I only ever wanted to help, and yet towards the end I only feel like a tool to the leads, rather than a person passionate about a game I love. It's made worse by the fact, I honestly used to get along with the devs. Xalrok used to be a real stand up guy, but now he has become the definition of absolute power corrupts absolutely. In hindsight, I regret helping the devs take over. Alley was right.
