I know the above link story may be an isolated incident, but come on. We NEED new members to diversify the RP and faction/independent member pool. Its bad enough we cannot get new members because most of the new ones probably get banned or scared off by random members of the community.
I am planning on creating a Transport class ships with a moderate amount of credits to aid new members of the community and give them advice and help.
However, since this character will be based in New York, its possible that the criminals may attack me/pirate me. I may ask for a neutral license/tag but I can still see myself getting hostile intent towards me.
------
Would you think a craft/character of this nature would be allowed or not engaged by players? This character would be there to benefit all, after all the new player could become a criminal :P I won't give handouts to faction tagged ships since they have been recruited and in my eyes no longer a 'total newbie'.
They are a faction with the exception of neutral ID, serving the very purpose of aiding novice and any player on the Discovery RP 24/7 server. You could see them in front of Manhattan occasionally with the [Angel] tag.

Ah thanks for that, well it has been a LONG time since I been near Manhattan.
The Angels are a good group perhaps you can sign up with them. I haven't been to Manhattan so I wouldn't know if they are active or not. I say its easy to see a big "I'm your happy helper" sign when people exit out the docking rings(not exactly something like that). I wouldn't mind supplying a couple of credits to support you.
It's a good idea Fletcher. You can be the Help Desk character or Join the Angels. http://discoverygc.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=. Post #3
Let me just say the even with a Neutral ID, people still attack you though,
Even when they shouldn't.
n00bl3t (I'm starting to think you don't read the posts.:))
the "invisible mode" I was talking about was me in a different
character. As an "Angel" I am invisible, but the Helper is still there.
I help people no matter what character I am in. There is no cloak
involved. There is no cloak in Disco, and never will be.
I think everyone should be helping new players no matter
what is happening to them. That's just my opinion though.
