Its not all about Bounty Hunters though. I do get stick to odd jobs to keep me running, because periods of time between one and other bounty are large as well as locating your target and you need something to do just to live by.
What I do? I offer my escort services to traders, scan passing convoys for contraband sending screenshots to local police in hope of gaining a reward, sometimes do credit transfers and hope for some extra sum, join local peacekeepers in their patrols or defence. And always roleplay a starving bounty hunter without a job. Fun.
If there's something I particularly dislike seeing, it's someone spamming in -my- thread. This includes:
1) Posts with no relation at all to the original topic
2) Posts with just smileys on them
3) Posts with a giant quote, then adding the word "/signed" on it
4) One word posts that don't mean anything.
Now then.. a question for Jinx...
Jinx Wrote:secrecy is nothing the guild is much concerned with - they exploid and raid. their protection is their power. - with the houses still depending on the assistance of the guild, they wouldn t dare to question their ways much. with the advanced technological knowledge they gain from the nomads, they have deployed warships in numbers and technology that is even to the houses fleets.
If the BHG are really as technologically advanced and powerful as house fleets, whats stopping them from going on a rampage? Couldn't they easily make a contract with either Bretonia or Kusari to take down the other by deploying their fleet of warships? It'd be like making the opponent fight the equivalent of two house fleets, would it not? And the houses would pay greatly to win an entire war?
Kudos to Zapp for making his here, whether it was motivated by Jinx's idea or not.

It is true that the Bounty Hunters fleets are larger then any single House fleet. I think the main reason that the bounty hunter would not accept any kind of taking sides in a House to House war is that either way the BH would lose. Choosing to support Kusari or Bretonia would cost them all the other Houses respect and what limited support that BH receive currently. The BH do not have the resources to mount a large scale battle against any of the Houses. Think about it, the Houses have multiple systems to gather resources from where the BH have nothing except contracts. Turning against a House would cost the BH more then they could possibly gain unless the House was publicly proven to be corrupt and a threat to the other houses.
Bear in mind that the BH stations are dispersed throughout Sirius, and the ones that manufacture the large capital ships are stuck between Corsair space and Rheinland. A single move against any house would mean sacrificing strength elsewhere. A move like that would certainly bring opposition from all corners who want to avoid a shift the balance of power. On top of that the guild doesn't have particularly good relations with Kusari. The individual guild memebers are employed frolm all over Sirius and would be opposed to attacking their home systems.
Plus the Guild relies on the Houses. It's steady and lucrative work providing security that allows the Guild to slowly build and evolve.
