Wish I could be able to texture that good without my stuff looking a mishmash of junk...
Blender is also a nice start, you can export a disco model, unwrap it and play around with texture positioning. There are plenty of tutorials on youtube, in my case it was annoying until I got used to all the hotkeys and importing resources into the project file. I can honestly say that I actually find texturing/ UV mapping relaxing. (Also, save a lot. Although extremely rare, blender can crash XD).
If you have some free time, just try it . Being patient and creative does make it easier, though XD.
Blender tile texturing is similar to 3dsmax. Each has its own unique procedure. Blender is Free and it is community supported while 3dsMax if you are rich, you can buy it. If you are a student studying in the area of Gaming, you can get it for "free", not sure how that goes. Or you can get it somewhere online with a p-key generator IN WHICH IS RISKIER if you do not have an anti-virus installed.
