cerbs/primaries get 3k range, primarily for anti cruiser.
secondaris get 1.5k range, against gbs.
mortar gets booted, just heavy mortars left. 5k range, devastating.
pulses and razors stay as they are, -maybe- remove pulses and make siege turrets have either anti hull, or anti shield.

make class 5 fighter turrets class 4, class 4 into class 3, and anything below is hardly used anyway, so doesnt make a difference. bomber guns are now class 1 guns, so the class 6 turrets are free for use. if worst comes to worst, certain fighter gun classes can be optimized and used.
The point is that the ONLY way cruisers (or battlecruisers) can fight battleships is to stay at max range. I dont expect to solo a battleship, but I wasnt trying to either - this was a fleet against fleet battle involving a lot of ships.
Problem is, the carrier got an engine/speed nerf that it shouldnt have, so now I cant even get away from the goddamn battleships when the fight drifts my direction. Further, battleships out-range every cruiser weapon available short of missiles, and cruiser missiles cannot damage battleships that have their shields up - cruiser missiles also happen to have a horrid refire rate, suck more energy than a light mortar, travel slower than a light mortar, and do less damage than a light mortar. Oh, and let's not forget that a single flak gun will make a battleship immune to missiles regardless of whether his shields are up or not.
Only the smallest cruisers can use that tactic effectively anymore - everything else gets screwed by the weapon changes made to battleships, and those changes werent even needed in the first place.
Tanacity, it sounds like your set up of your BS is of the old turret system. Since the cap ship you went up agianst dicided to go all prims and cerbs, best to bring some bombers on that fella, becuase he won't be able to hit the broad side of a barn. If you and your friend had the same set up as he did, I am sure you would have had his lunch and laughing about it for the next half hour.</strike>
I am thankfull for this posting even though it was at your expense. I realize I have more options on how to set up my BS. I dont get alot of cap vs cap action, so I am a bit enveous of your battle. I do though get swarmed by bombers, so I can now put more soliries or secondaries on now.
If ya get in that situation again, just pack some cerbs, get rid of the marshmellow thrower, and tear through him.

Dude, I fly a carrier, it doesnt get any Battleship turrets... just these piece of crap cruiser turrets that the developers seem to ignore entirely, along with the of the cruiser and battlecruiser ship classes.
Once again I'll repeat myself... cruisers have become the bastard child of this mod. They have no purpose other than to act as targets for anything bigger or smaller than they are, and nobody with the power to change anything seems to give a damn.
