3rd Shift - The Next Day, 0345 Hours
Rob was covered with all manner of grime, grease, and sweat. He was sitting on a small fold out stool which looked as though it might give under his weight at any moment. Before him sat the hull of a freighter, some of the beams throughout looked fresh, the glint the overhead lights reflecting in their surface. Others merely blackened. Rob blew a rasphberry though his lips while he tapped out on a data pad balanced on one leg while he chewed on a sub sandwich with his other free hand."Shoulda told Rick I wanted a vacation instead of a raise." Rob said mainly to himself. He glanced at the time. It was very nearly 4am. He had left messages with Verac and Cortana to meet him then for an update on his progress. "Any minute now..." he trailed off while continuing to tap away on his data pad.
Seems like Rob left a message for me.. I should probably get down to see how far he got while I was drawing the schematics. Maybe I should get a coffee on the way so i can wake up. Cortana takes all her papers that are scattered on the table and checks if they are all together. As she heads to the counter she remembers that she forgot to draw the hardpoint schematics, but she did not bother with it as she was pissed off that the rest tool so long to draw. She walks towards the elevator still very tierd, but still very tierd as she had slept on the table..
Once she arrived at the now dismantled fighter she wondering that Verac wasn't here already. She noticed how Rob was sitting on a small chair, one could say the chair is way to small for a man of his size. Well, looks like you made quite the progress with the hull? I'll asume that means I can start with redoing all the wiring and Verac can start with the engine once he comes back?
Meanwhile, Verac just woke up from his deep sleep. He almost feel out of the bed when he tried to get up. Ugh what time is it... I should not have gone to sleep.. I feel like trash.. He then noticed a small Led blinking on the data pad he got from Rob. Well, looks like he made progress. I bet Cortana is already at work again. I should head down to see if I can start to work on the engine.
He gave a cheery wave while he continued to eat his sandwich, between bites he started to fill her in. "I've gotten most of the internal hull bracing replaced along with the structure for the engine mounts. Verac can start replacing the engine array." He paused while taking a goodly portion of the sandwich into his mouth and continued to talk although slightly muffled though the thick bread in his mouth. "I'm going to need another day or two to finish up some of the detail work on the cockpit." He paused to swallow his food, "Also your windows won't be here until the weekly transport gets in, hopefully before the start of 2nd shift." he stuffed the last portion of the sandwich into his mouth and exhaled loudly while he chewed.
Perfect, you are doing quite a good job. Well, till Verac arrives I will start with the wiring. It should go rather quickly, we will see. Cortana takes a few steps back and grabs some cables and wires. She quickly starts to fiddle the cabels through the ship. After a short while Verac was comming down in the elevator. Ah, Cortana you are already working again? It is always the same with you. I'll asume I can start to work on the engine. Verac quickly grabs a small chair and sits down next to the engine block. He then grabs the old fuel hose and starts to dismount it from the rest of the engine.
A few hours later. Well, the wiring is done. Now we have to connect everything and put in the new parts like the mainboard and the scanner. Once we managed to connect everything we will test the systems to see if everything works and once Verac is done with fixing the engine we will test fire it too. By the way how is it looking Verac? Verac looking slightly exhausted stands up and lights a cigar. Well, I'm almost done over here. We exchanged the fuel hose and replaced the controling hardware. We also exchanged some of the plating around the thrusters itself. I just hope it will work once we fire it up.

3rd Shift - The Final Day, 0030 Hours
Rob was throwing tools around, clearly upset. A broken stool and a half eaten sandwich laid scattered on the floor gave some indication as to why. With less than a half hour before Cortana arrived he was more or less done. "Finally" he sighed picking up a 10 kilo sledge hammer and a shop rag. He tenderly swaddled the hammer with the rag like a loving mother might do to a child. He then proceeded to slam the hammer several times over into a portion of the starboard view-port. With the din still echoing around the deck Rob paused and viewed his work with a practiced eye. Nodding to himself he dropped the hammer onto he deck with a clatter and pulled a data pad out of his pocket. "Might as well get the bill ready while they make their way down here."

Would you look at this beauty. Looks like it is finaly done. I guess it is time to fire it up for the first time to see if all the systems works properly. What do you think Verac? And do you have the overview of the costs? Cortana walks around the finished wraith. Slightly releaved that it is finaly done. It does look pretty nice, I have to agree with you. As for the costs we are around Twenty million Credits. I honestly would have thought that it will cost us more.
A short while later Cortana hopped into the cockpit to run a system check to see if everything works. Alright, lets see if this beauty works how it should.
....Starting System Checks....
....Life support system OK....
....Light system OK....
....Scanning System OK....
....Shield System OK....
....Weapon System OK....
....Engine System OK....
....Powercore output OK....
....System Checks completed all Systems OK....
Well, Rob looks like everything works just fine. The last tests will be done in space as I don't think it would be good to fire the engine up in here. We will send you the credits right away. Thank you, it was a pleasure doing this project with you. Cortana walks towards Rob to shake his hand with a bright smile on her face.
