Sisters,
I have been musing during my latest tea ceremony and I want to share with you a history lesson which came to mind.
"Trancend life and death. Eliminate all thoughts about your life and death. You will then be empowered to focus your attention on destroying your enemy with unwavering determination."
These were words spoken to the kamikaze pilots during world war II on our ancient homeworld. Times changed alot since then, but like them we fight and die on a daily basis, sacrificing our lives for our Sisters. The pilots back then had their own ceremonies, like drinking special sake before flying to their death.
I wanted to see if we can establish such a new ceremony for Sisters who fly off into dangerous missions. It could help to empower them and with their soul strenghtened, lead them to their safe return.

Konbanwa, Sisters,
I think this is a very good idea. Perhaps we take this idea but out of respect for those who gave their lives so long ago, we should change the wording just a little and um, perhaps create a special drink of our own? I mean, Sake is quite good and appropriate but we need something.....unique to us. But what would that be?

Sisters,
I recall this one Algae that my sister used to extract the essence from and have me and my father drink one hour before we would go diving when the nets were not getting any catches. Drinking this would allow us to dive one for 20+ minutes in a single breath if we were breathing in pure Oxygen... Perhaps this could be added into the drink? It would make if far more likely for our sisters to remain alive long enough to be rescued should their ships be disabled...
I also recall some herbs she would add to it for some deeper dives to help us see better in the lower light enviroment of deep underwater...
I'll forward this com to her and ask her if she still has some handy
Maybe she has a few more herbs that could have unforseen effects for a special cocktail...

Moshi moshi,
Algea huh? Wont that be very slimy? Ew. But extra oxygen? ehhhh. Leave it to a fisher girl to put slimy things into your tea that makes your grow gills.
Well okay, listen. So my idea is this. We throw sake, cardamine and some other stuff together. Cardamine because of GC. Sake because of Kusari. And maybe throw in some Chrysanthemum petals of a beautiful gold color because of GC.
However, maybe leave the sake out, because that actually harms your piloting skills. Just look at Misaki.
Erm, Emiko, Now that you are reading this. Do you have some "enhancers" in your med kit? Something that could help take the edge of things? Lately I have been having some anxiety issues.
Oh and Mariko. Nice idea! Never would've thought that you could turn tea into suicide juice, but you managed to figure out how!

Konbanwa, Sisters,
Takes a deep drag off of her kiseru. As she speaks, the smoke is exhaling
Sister Fuji, I think I may have a few things in my kit and um, I may be able to get more.
Sisters, I'm liking where this is headed. It should be fun to see what we create.

Sisters,
Since I'm not a Kusari native, my knowledge in this area is limited, but talking about "enhancers" reminds me of an old tidbit from 20th century Earth. During the Cold War, many United States pilots who flew nuclear armed bomber patrols would take stimulants such as amphetamine to help themselves stay awake throughout the long flight.
These days, we have more effective and safer alternatives, but the idea remains the same.
Also, Fujiwara-san, it wasn't sake in itself that was the problem with Misaki, but the excessive use of it. I see no harm in adding a splash or two into the tea to give it flavor.
Back home in Liberty, when coffee was served after a formal meal, they would often pour a little bit of bourbon or whiskey into it to give it some flavor. Not so much that you'll get drunk, but enough that you can just taste a hint of it.
My cargo hold is almost loaded up, so I'm headed out for now.

Kon'nichiwa shimai
I know my experience in combat against our oppressors is limited, but when it comes to using sake to enhance food or drink, my late father showed me a great deal. While on long trade runs with the hold of our ship full of sake, he would often cook it into our food, or add it to special cocktails he would drink.
About these special cocktails, he would always say "The sake makes it better to drink, but not too much sake, or it will ruin the purpose". He would stay up for many hours into the night after drinking one, watching for any danger. As I came of age, I learned he was drinking a stimulant, one that tasted poorly without the sake. For a time, before his death, I would make these cocktails for him on occasion, mixing them with fruit and sake. He seemed to like my mixtures much more than his own.
All of this being said, I am confident we can create the appropriate recipe, one that is both functional and palatable.

Alright lets make work of this.
Ayakura-san, bring me some samples of the algaes you speak of. If you know of more varieties that could be beneficial, collect those too.
Fujiwara-san, Tea has always been an inspiration, both good and bad. There is beauty in both life and death.
Sato-san, If you can obtain beneficial chemicals, be sure to aquire them. Just be sure that we have the means to easily aquire more when needed. We can later see which ones to use.
Rowe-san, amphetamines are too much of a health hazard to be included into this. We should not be adding addictive chemicals which are detrimental to our health. Which is why herbs and Ayakura-san's algae have my preference. Cardamine is the only exclusion to this. Cardamine should be vital component. If an enemy gets their hands on it, it wont be able to use it without the unavoidable addiction to cardamine. Call it a security mechanism.
Adachi-san, With the current ideas of cardamine, chrysanthemum petals, algae and chemicals.. adding sake to the mix could have adverse effects. So we need to see how this will all work out. Only the petals alone will make it a pretty bitter concoction. If you ever drank chrysanthemum too, you will know you add honey to it to make it drinkable. That is why I will propose that the main method of consumption is ritual tea sweetened with honey. However, if we let it be more than ritualistic use and actually give make it a stimulant that improves the combat effectiveness, we should carry concentrated doses in vials. We can then mix it in hot water with honey to make the ritualistic tea, or ingest it directly from the vials in cases of immediate need.

Sisters,
I have managed to acquire some goods for our mixture. It's all I can get for now but my search will continue. I have acquired the following:
-Jars of honey.
-Genseng, You may find that available in Kusari if you need more.
-Cinnamon.
-Ginger
-Nutmeg
-Chili peppers
These are simple yet common goods for us. What is difficult is getting them as they come from all over Sirius. My search continues and I will update you with more as I get things.

Moshi moshi again,
I did some digging into my own stash. Remember when I told you how I shot that Hogosha in the face?
Well I managed to get some herbs on the black market on New Tokyo at the time. Its pretty easy to find when you know where to look. Essentially it works by stimulating the nervous system. It basicly overcharges the senses to the point where time seems to dilate slightly. You will just experience things going slower. However, I must say that you will wake up with a major headache if you take too much of it.
When I killed the guy I was high as a kite on that stuff. It was the only reason I managed to dodge the knife that was coming at my throat.
I will be going to New Tokyo and do some shopping. But, Mariko, be sure to pay me back okay? This is your new quirk, not mine.
It also seems like Emiko-chan already got the honey which Mariko was talking about! Our very own Mitsubachi!
