Hello there. I've got some questions about getting into being an Indie.
First, I need some help finding an ID that works for most houses and most factions. I know that for Gallia I need to request an A1 steak sauce visa or the C1 asylum visa unless my character is initially Gallic in origin.
Second, I need a recommendation for a good ship and setup for said ship. My character will be a sciency explorer guy who also can shoot well in fighters and snubcraft. I bet most recommendations will be for the Spatial, and thats fine, but any other recommendations would be nice as well.
Third, I need some advice on how to play the indie style. I've never had or created an indie ship on this server, and since the world of factions has ruined my experience, I want to get a fresh view of the game.
Thanks in advance. If it would be easier to contact me through discord, some of you already have it. If you don't, my discord name is WizardLizard#8153.
P.S. groshyr ur profile picture is terrifyingly nostalgic.
EDIT: I'm planning to make this character REALLY worked out and potentially SRP'd with cool stuff, just in case that tidbit of information changes ur answers.

indeed.
Freelancer would be even better, they should have less rep issues with Gallia for example
+can be hired with bounty and protect allies if you plan to shoot
Zoners can protect only zoners, they can't be agressive
/Restart hardcore. All reps at 0 no map explored freelancer - world is your oyster.
Most of my faction characters were indies or even freelancers that transitioned into a faction when it made RP sense (and 2 of them them are leading their own factions now )
I recommend that to grow close to them.
Funny but true story - my character, Van Leer, was originally an indie made for the sole purpose of poking fun at the LN taking over CR ZOI. And it's now my most serious character that had good Influence on how the most played faction in disco by far looks like today - =CR= made 46th in a way
Bottom line is: Indies are fun, you are not burdened by anything and can do whatever the hell your ID allows. Just look at /restarts, wiki factions of Sirius and go nuts. You always have space to make the characters serious one afterwards as you build on RP.
7) Pick one and you are good to go. I recommend you don't do what everyone else does - don't give name (besides ship name, duh), backstory to your character at all. Instead Start by playing as generic character of the faction - use Infocards and Rumors to clarify what that is.
8) Build yourindie character story bit by bit Based on what you enjoy doing and interactions . Often times you will seemlessly join or make factions as you build up RP, Interactions and Story. Often times you will even swap IDs altogether on the same character.
Bonus: make alts. Many many forum alts. So you remember what one of your 30 characters said and posted and don't have to search for years. Also looks cool.
