Isla opened her eyes slightly as she slowly begun waking up, extending her arm out to hold Tricia, wanting to pull her closer. Noticing that Tricia wasn't there she quickly opened her eyes wide open, looking around. She saw the state Tricia's side of the bed was in and realized that she must've gotten up silently so as to not wake her up.
She smiled, her ears catching the sound of the TV that was on downstairs. A happy sigh exited her mouth, she had missed waking up in Tricia's place even though it hasn't even been a full week since last time. Isla got up from the bed and walked downstairs in her black/red underwear, noticing Tricia in the kitchen.
"Good morning honey," she happily said, her eyes landing on the table where Tricia had already laid out the plates and bowls on, "woah, Trishy, you've prepared breakfast already? Sweetheart you should've waited for me to help out! How long have you been up for?" Her voice didn't sound at all annoyed, she was just concerned as she definitely didn't want Tricia to do all the cooking or all the chores while the two of them lived together.
As she was talking, Isla walked towards Tricia who was watching the news and hugged her tightly, letting out a soft sigh as she placed her head on Tricia's chest.
"Did you sleep well, dear?" She finally asked, hoping that Tricia's night was as calm as it was for herself.
"Morning, hun." As Isla approached her, Tricia shared a kiss with her. "You're too cute when you sleep." As Isla laid her head on Tricia's chest, she gently hugged her back, caressing her hair. "I woke up just a few minutes ago, really. Was enough time to make us some food, though. And I don't mind doing the house stuff, especially since you'll be mostly in space. But today we have a long day ahead of us, especially you. And to start things off, let's have a healthy breakfast, okay?" For a moment, she averted her look over to the holographic clock. "Or, well, a healthy dinner." Letting go of Isla, she took a seat by the counter. Forks, knives and spoons were already laid out for both of them. Even the steaming coffee was in place, poured into the mugs just a few seconds before Isla entered the kitchen. On the other side, just in front of Tricia, Isla's food was served, with the same bar stool Tricia was sitting on. Yet she patiently waited for her.
"How long were you staring at me for, love? I gotta admit.. It took me a while to fall asleep at night so I spent some time staring at you sleeping peacefully so I can't tell you anything now!" Isla giggled and smiled at Tricia, enjoying the feeling of her hand caressing her hair for a few moments.
"Sweetheart, we both have a long day ahead of us, not just me. We're going through this together." She took a deep breath, chuckling softly. "I'd still consider it breakfast. You know.. It still is our meal just after waking up!" With that, Isla walked to the counter and sat on the other side, facing Tricia. She smiled, noticing that she was waiting for her to start off, and so she took her fork and took a bite of her salad.
"Mhmmm... It's wonderful, Trish, just like the first time.. It's the same salad, isn't it?"
"Staring?" Tricia chuckled, at the same time understanding that her looking at Isla sleep might've been creepy. "You being a cutie is what inspired me to go down and make us some food, actually. Felt like doing a little surprise, you know?"
She already tasted the salad before serving it, although it was indeed a bit better than the last time."It's the same one, yeah. But there's no consistency to it, I just throw things in until it tastes good, so each time it's a little bit different"
To her own surprise, the breakfast was very well done. Eggs were thoroughly fried, the salad was just as good as any other time she would make it, but something about it was just better.
"How could I not stare at you? Such a cute little sleepy face!" Isla said with a chuckle, extending her left arm forward to take hold of Tricia's hand tightly. "If we were to make each other food everytime we did something cute then we'd get fat pretty quick!" Isla messed with Tricia, she obviously didn't have any issues with her making food for the both of them, in fact it really was a kind-hearted move by Tricia.
"Nobody has cooked for me before, now that I think about it.." Isla stated as a matter of fact, taking a few more bites out of her salad and admiring it's taste. She kept holding Tricia's free hand during this time, caressing her warm palm with her fingers as the two of them enjoyed the amazing breakfast.
"Can't wait to finish with my salad so I can devour this toast!" She happily noted, eyeing the toast sitting on the plate next to her, untouched. The smell of the fried bread along with the smell of the eggs had really gotten the best of her. The yawn that followed up after Isla said that was enough of an indication for her that she'd need to take a sip of that coffee in the mug near her.
She let her fork down on the bowl and grabbed the mug, taking a strong sip of coffee and closing her eyes for a moment, enjoying the taste and scent.
"Is that coffee fresh or organic? It's smell is so unique.. I really love it!" She asked calmly, before letting the mug back down and going back to her food.
"Organic coffee is very hard to come by our days, even for someone as rich as me. - She said it with a sour note in her voice. - I doubt there's any coffee plantations, now that you mention it... But the stuff I have there? - She pointed behind her, at a single nozzle by the sink that had a small grate under it. - It's a small tank that brews coffee on its own. All I have to do is to pour it out through the dispensing nozzle and voila - energy for the rest of the day." She sighed out as she tasted some of the beverage herself. She never really tasted organic coffee, not to mention its absence on the "Panorama's" menu. "Every once in a while, though, I confuse the hell out of retailers when I order a lot of instant coffee at the time. Too bad that this thing doesn't produce it infinitely, huh?"
Isla frowned for a second, as if something confused her. The look in her face made it quite obvious that she was thinking of something as Tricia spoke, and not ten seconds later she begun laughing at herself.
"Did I really ask if the coffee is fresh or organic? Gosh.. I know it's fresh! I meant to ask if its organic or synthetic!" She replied, giggling. "I'm sorry Trish, but thankfully you understood what I meant." She kept speaking, eventually calming down.
"Well, there's no need to feel bad about that," she tightened the grip on her hand as she continued, "the coffee you've got here is really high quality, I already told you I love it!" Isla felt bad for a moment, an emotion of sadness being painted on her face. She didn't mean to make Tricia feel bad that her coffee wasn't organic, her remark was mostly about how the beverage really -felt- as if it was organic.
Isla dived back in on her salad as Tricia spoke and by the time she was finished, Isla was done with her salad and was ready to move on to her toast and her fried egg, but waited for Tricia to get there as well.
"It's funny how many creative little gadgets you have around here, including your very own coffee brewer for fresh aromatic coffee! Having your place in mind would make my apartment look boring and dull if we had ever visited it." Isla smiled as she said that. Part of her smile was because of Tricia's last statement and part of it was because of something she just thought of. "Did I tell you that I spent a good amount of time this week packaging my stuff back home? I don't think I told you... soooo... I'm telling you now! I still haven't finished looking over my work schedule and adjusting that to Bayport time, but that's essentially the next step!"
The heart-warming smile on her face was almost contagious as she spoke, being completely unable to hide how hyped she was about her imminent move to Tricia's place.
As Isla hinted towards her moving, Tricia distracted herself from an almost empty salad bowl. Her eyes lit up with excitement. "Oh, I'm definitely helping you with that! And even if there isn't much to move, I'm still going to be there."
She was already done with her salad and, after another sip of coffee, moved on to finish the eggs. "I say we watch something before we get to the training bit, though. Something from the old times. Like The Intouchables, have you seen this one?"
Isla took a large bite from her toast, being obviously very hungry. After all she hadn't eaten anything since before yesterday evening. A smile formed on her face as she noticed how happy her reference to the moving made Tricia, she couldn't help but be overwhelmed with a similar feeling of joy herself.
"Sure, honey, you can come along, but on one condition.. You will not start laughing when you see my apartment..!" Isla giggled, it was obvious she was messing with Tricia, but there was some big amount of truth behind her joke. There was nothing to be proud of about her place, which made her even more happy to finally have a reason to move out of there. "I don't know how long it's going to take me to handle all of the work-related stuff, but rest assured that you'll be the first person to know when they're finally handled!"
With that, Isla dived back on her toast and ate the rest of it before moving on to eating her perfectly fried eggs. It was almost as if Tricia had been frying eggs for Isla for years to get them so perfectly cooked - exactly how Isla wanted and liked them. She, herself, failed to fry eggs that well at times.
"Mhmmmm.." a moan of pleasure escaped her mouth as she took the first bite, "the eggs are perfect, love. They really could not be any better than that." She said after swallowing.
"Never heard of or watched that movie, and I would love to learn it with you! Lets watch it as soon as we're done eating!" Isla paused eating for a moment and took another strong sip of her coffee, once again taking a deep breath and enjoying the sweet scent.
"I only heard of it, few people who saw it say it's a really good picture." She said, folding her toast in half and taking a bite off of it.
She was done with her breakfast earlier than Isla, still preserving a habit of eating fast. "Whew. I'm surprised. I don't remember the last time I cooked this good." She put her dishes into a dishwasher, which was just between the stove and a small fridge. She then took her coffee mug and walked by Isla, gently caressing her back. "Take your time, I'll arrange the room in the meantime." To make their experience more enjoyable, she wanted to unfold one of the couches. Gladly, there was enough distance between either of them and the table itself. However, unlike most things in her house, these couches didn't had anything automated - each of them had to be unfolded manually, which wasn't much of a trouble for her.
She unfolded the one on her right and took two pillows from the opposite one. As she covered it with a black silk blanket and arranged all four pillows, she kneeled down on it and picked up the remote from a table. Said remote wasn't just controlling the TV screen, it was also an access to her living room's lights. And even if it was getting darker on the outside, she still wanted to set up a fitting ambience. Everything except the kitchen was completely blacked out, only for her TV screen to serve as the source of light, which was still enough to light up the entire room.
She browsed through her cinema library, which consisted entirely out of movies from the bygone era, of movies that were made back on Earth. Some of them had to be recreated, others managed to last as digital copies and were adapted to the technology of her age. Yet she was waiting for Isla to join her.
