"I've gotten used to it so long ago, it's not too much of an annoyance to me anymore." Nikki didn't seem much bothered. "I'm just glad you and Isla were okay. That's when I'd have a problem.." She seemed either more concerned about her friends, or simply didn't mind getting spaced every so often. "You never told me you got blown up, Nikki! You need to rest after things like that happen!" Satsumi seemed more upset about it than her sister. "It's part of life, Satsu, it happens. It's always in a safe place."
Olivia raised a surprised eyebrow at Satsumi's sudden outburst.
"Keeping that from your little sister?" She teased, chuckling softly. The mercenary was all too accustomed to keeping her own 'misadventures' to herself, too. Then her face grew more serious as she gazed at the older sister across from her. "You should take more care of keeping yourself in one piece. No point worrying about your friends if you get too hurt to help them."
After giving the statement a few seconds to sink in, she turned back to Satsumi, smirking.
"Don't worry, I made sure Nicole made it to an infirmary A-S-A-P."
Nikki chuckled. "We both made it there pretty quickly. Mostly making sure each other got there to get looked after. Besides, it wasn't anything more serious than a bar fight anyway. That's all fighting Rogues is anyway. Just a drunken barfight with more lasers and plasma n lights.." She couldn't help but snicker at the fantasy she'd made up, Satsumi gently kicking her sister's leg. "Hey! What was that for?""Look after yourself, shisuta. I don't want you getting anymore hurt than you need to be. You know how Akika gets when you're hurt."
Nikki shook her head, finishing her soda from the dinner. "I know, I know. But I was sticking up for my friends. I don't regret it. Nobody comes and interrupts our nice conversations, trying to get at one of my friends without me getting into the mix. Nobody hurts my family or friends. Nobody. They pay when they try."
"I'm thankful for you jumping in to help," Olivia admitted. Nicole's sentiment was one Olivia was only too familiar with herself. "But don't pretend like going at each other in space is anything like a pub brawl. Especially when you're facing pilots skilled enough to fight and win in Manhattan's orbital grid."
The mercenary sighed. It still stung that Isla, Nicole, and her had been overwhelmed so easily despite their enormous advantage. Admittedly, neither her nor Prower had been in the best shape for combat flying, but that didn't stop her pride from taking a beating.
"Besides," Olivia continued with a sarcastic chuckle, "in our conditions, neither of us would stand much of a chance in a bar fight, either."
"Maybe not, but we can still put up a fight together~" She snickers, pointing out they did fight pretty well, all things considered. Still, she was enjoying the day, if nothing else it was giving her the ability to enjoy the moment with Olivia and her sister now. "Hey Olivia, is there anything you've wanted to do but haven't? Sometimes I think about it alot.. and I get curious about what other people wanna do too.." Satsumi seemed as cheerful as ever, curious on what Olivia's wants may be in life.
"Satsumi is a very curious girl.. she likes finding out more about friends." Nikki couldn't help but chuckle.
"Something I want to do but haven't...," Olivia repeated to herself as she gazed off into the restaurant, mulling the question over. She was still for a moment. The answer that came to her mind seemed to be a bit too sensitive for the present company and occasion. So, instead, she chose a different answer, a hypothetical she had considered many times over the years.
"I suppose I'd like to settle down one day," she replied, glancing back at Satsumi with a smile. "Buy a nice little house on some pretty planet, out in nature." She shrugged, as though it was a trite thought. "I'd like to imagine that I won't spend my entire life being a merc."
"I'm sure there's something else you'd like to do, c'moooon~" Satsumi clearly wasn't pleased with hearing what most people say. "Calm down, Sis. The reason you heard everyone say that is because it is something people wanna do. Especially after everything Olivia's done. It's always a nice goal to have." Nikki quickly diverted Satsumi's attention away to avoid making Olivia answer anything she didn't want to. At the same time, she was even intrigued what Olivia did want to achieve, not this wasn't the time for that.
"Well, is there anything else you want to eat?" She looked to her sister, who shook her head. She then looked to Olivia.
Nikki nodded, getting up and paying for the meal, taking the two girls in tow and heading back to the shuttle. Climbing back in, the trio began flying back. "Well, that was a good lunch~ I hope you girls enjoyed it too~" Satsumi was satisfied and enjoyed the lunch. "We should do this again when you're cooking! Sis' cooking is the best! She even grows some of her own ingredients!" Nicole still couldn't believe how blunt her sister can be, simply shaking her head a bit while landing back where Olivia's Lich had been resting. "Here we are. This was nice, Olivia. As blunt as my sister is, maybe we should have another lunch sometime. It was nice having company."
"I wouldn't mind," Olivia replied as she ducked out through the shuttle's door. She turned back to face the two sisters still inside. "Especially if you're cooking." She gave them a broad smile, then glanced over her shoulder to where her ship was awaiting her.
The mercenary took a deep breath of the relatively fresh suburban air, taking in the subtle scents that distinguished it from what she had grown accustomed to on Manhattan. It was a beautiful day and she was glad to have spent it here with good company, instead of idling in orbit, strapped into her ship's cockpit. It had been a pleasant distraction from all her recent worries.
"Take care, both of you," she called out over the roar of a freighter passing overhead and gave the Prowers a wave goodbye before heading off towards her landing pad.
