Sorry, I don't have an SSD. I have an HDD. I thought those were the same. Didn't have an idea such devices as SSDs existed until I googled it just now.

No problem. Most what I wrote applies anyway.
Generally speaking HDDs have maximal speeds around 100-150MB/s sequential (large files) read/write (specially older ones) and have a huge latency (resulting in even lower speeds) when they need to access files randomly as there is a physical read/write head that needs to move from place to place.
On the other hand even the cheapest SSDs have speeds in 300-500MB/s range and it does not matter whether it is sequential or random because there are no moving parts.
This has a huge positive impact on responsivenes of OS and programs.
There are SSDs with speeds in 3000-7000MB/s range but those are expensive and need special connectors on MOBO or PCIE expansion cards.
If you tell me which country you are from I can find you some affordable examples you can buy locally.
If you want we can discuss this further over PM here on forum or on Discord.

This was some 7 years ago or so. Buying new Windows will cost me a kidney, and I'm not confident enough in my computer skills to live comfortably with a pirated OS.
pirated OSes are super friendly. in fact, they are more friendly than official releases, because pirate versions make sure to make a life for users more comfortable by offering to disable in one click unnecessary windows things. if needed can give instructions on how to get it.
Correct,i live with my Pirated XP3 OS last 10 years, no problems.
And Thundy, your PC seems more or less like mine, i tried Windows 8 few years ago, it was super slow, so i reverted it back to XP, our PCs are to old for newish OS,stick to what works.
