I stopped cause school and cause i got bored of the game. all the stuff i invested in kinda crumbled ingame so i left and gave away my stuff to ppl i knew.
Looks like a lot of players that would play if there was more to do in the game at any given time. Should the next question be, what would bring you back to playing regularly?
How can anyone who leads this place see stuff like this and do/say nothing over and over. How can anyone still cling to the belief its better as it is? Just logging is noble but not really the answer, and everyone who posted here that doesn't play all basically admitted they unofficially boycott but linger out of HOPE a change will actually come to this place one day. There seems to be a lot of people that would like to return if there was something more to do, and if there was something ensuring a bit more fair treatment from faction heads, devs, etc, and their behind the scenes influence of events.
So the debate switches to, ok what do we do to freshen things up? Make better use out of the place? Yet if you're still avoiding supporting an activity system like a Faction Challenge System for in-game locations, you're pretending there is no elephant in the room. For those of you who actually want to save the server and get people playing again, and have a cycle where people are logging in eagerly to join a battle, instead of being unable to get past their character selection screen, it would be a good time to set aside the personal bias and embrace what is logical. The answer has been right in front of us the whole time, and has only been avoided to artificially keep things upside down here. The current system keeps those who don't deserve it on top for no effort, and vice versa. Yet many are surprised it died here? Playing the game should be what gets stuff changed here, not just being a dev. Devs should be working on stuff for that battle system! And playing to exert change.
I think its obvious what to do, its just creepy at this point that nothing has been done and some people still won't budge. If the leadership won't get moving on such changes, please hand it off to those that will!

And that's what's so ironic about all this. Sure more "things to do" from a development standpoint would be very nice and likely encourage people to log but in that case Discovery, like all other games, will start to rely on dev-added content like GTA Online but that is impossible to be the case. That's why the "things to do" need to originate mostly from the players themselves. A normal RP encounter can lead to deeper RP, on forums for example. Character development and the events that come with it are able to keep you busy as long as you have ideas. If everyone just logged right now most people would probably have their desired stuff to do and be busy.
also apart from Galia.. i was really pumped at getting barge since all that is fun for me is trading and mining but then the price and i tried it in SP being unable to drive it and just gets stuck everywhere is a whole point of fun being lost.
Apart from that more ppl would be nice and just people being too serious about everything basically is annoying... its a game.. and a passion fun project that a lot of people put a lot of their time and knowledge in it and for that i sincerily respect everyone who is involved in any way.. but seing some players just being a bully and generally all they do is piss people off is kinda League of legends type of salt and ima stay away from that
<3
PS: A lot of ppl owe me credits.... you know who you are...
Hello!
I could type a few words considering I started playing here back in 2008.
The way the mod changed in the last 3-5 years annoyed me and made me stop playing daily or even weekly. On top of that the player base changed drastically and most of the people i knew stopped playing. In exchange many players who joined later on were quite bad mannered and ruined the joy for me.
I log in to fly a bit and do a few missions once in a while but that's all for me. I only log in to fly a bit since this was and still is my favorite space game even though the mod changes ruined it for me.
Don't ask which or what changes I dislike, I could even start with the introduction of Gallia but let's not discuss about it right now. Too many things I didn't keep up with in the last years but when I go in space and see what's changed I don't like it too much.
As a side note I'd like to say I am quite happy you guys have returned the classic sound for Vengeance lasers. I noticed recently since I don't play that often.
Thanks for keeping the server online even though is almost dead if you ask me.
I take a peek out of boredom and first thing i spot in my eye is this thread. Ok.
-In the first place, there is no Role Playing Game elements at all, there is no content that catches my interest into playing a faction or work for. Its just picking a faction for a determined action, and thats it. Im supposed to make a new spacer that throws himself into space to make his story. Its like being a jedi on star wars, going to dagobah and there is no yoda.
Also the restrictions applied on some factions or even ships are ridicolous, if i want to be a merchant, i should be able to transport anything or land anywhere i need for making money. Smuggling is absolutely pitiful.
-There is no reward for doing activities, for a roleplay enviroment, i should be encouraged to engage in an activity that has the possibility of dealing with other players and therefore creating a roleplay encounter. But i can just pick a dumbass miner in the starting area, grind helium and deliver it to the brits. And nobody to threaten me.
-The players, its really noticeable once you try to reach higher levels that there is a stablished group of players who pretty much hold all the power in the whole game. And if you try to somehow make your own work, they can just shut it down easily, because they can. Elitism at its purest form.
This is not a game, its a failed attempt. We come here expecting that and fails to deliver anything remotely close to that.
I barely find time for devving between my RL, other more fun games and all the factions I enjoyed in the past are either dead or so far off their premises that they are unfathomable abominations that have to be nuked and restarted with a clean slate. I still lurk around but thats it.
My real story bros & sis...
Draw your own conclusions.
Been back for about a month and done about... a big fat nothing.
I hadn't even flewn off any planet that I already got used to the idea this game didn't matter after all...
Believe it or not, I was REALLY looking forward to pewpew, grinding, flying around aimlessly for funzies, RPing...
But it literally never took off. Because all that stuff gets super old, super fast - without context.
I needed directions man...
And NO, I'm not a sheeple!
But like everything you like in life, you need context and goals.
Before even introducing themselves on the forum, players first need IMMERSION.
Give them that killer vibe that makes them part of something greater by getting them to join a player faction right HERE, on the website.
Get them to sign up to a cause, an ideal, a lifestyle... and MAKE IT A MUST DO !
Think of it as a character creation portal in a mmo. The preambule that opens to a dynamic experience from the word go.
And keep it simple and fun make the player feel wanted and valuable!
- Propose IDENTITY traits options to steer players into narratives YOU WANT, and help them define be who THEY LIKE.
- And match those identities to PURPOSES that fit the several faction's predefined story lines.
- Then have real people from players factions respond asap to chars creations and get the ball rolling in the direction players are HAPPY with!
Sit back and watch myriads of active new and older spacefarer step into THEIR adventure!
