So is there any date, within reason, soon enough where we can do a big get-together in, dunno, Conn or something and bump up the server number even for a moment? Perhaps that alone, people seeing it at 190/190 or whatever our current extended amount is, is enough to not uninstall the game afterwards.
All that needs to happen is that the method of installing Disco is made as quick and painless as possible, so that nobody will mind it. I could then announce it on my channel. I suggest that the date is given a month or so from now to give people a chance to actually consider attending, though. Jobs are jobs.
Whoever is currently in charge, you know my discord, @me.
Installing disco is painless compared to other mods
Bringing in people completely alien who don't appreciate freelancer for what it is, is high risk. I brought people in to disco and they looked around. said it felt dead and unfinished.. accurate to the base game
Populating conn is great! for about a hour... Conn isn't what disco is focused on it's just the most enjoyable aspect. so you'd be setting them up for diappointment
I think it's cool you're willing to announce it to your followers but I just don't think you're going to be the longterm fix. Maybe a quick nostalgia trip? But that's not good enough

Waste of time. But a fun project for Alex... He gets to build something that functions and feels good for doing so.. however
Any newb that installs it is going to be bombarded with stupid rules that causes them to lose the stuff they worked for because they didn't read through 100's of pages of forum stuff..
Or get destroyed in pvp repeatedly by people who've put 100's-1000's of hours into shooting things really well
But hey.. at least the install and uninstall process is fast
So a quick fix could be to create a restart for simply new players so that it means hopefully they wont get targeted as much by these people who are just after a cheap and simple blue.
The restart would possibly include something that can identify a new player to other players. Then also a rule which states that new players need time to grasp the game and can be immune from being targeted for a period of time, but implementing this would probably never happen, and this discussion page will become useless really.

@Selken don't be cut away because of the PvP thing, it is not a big deal, you just log and fight, that's how you learn, everyone wants to win or whatever, still this is just a game to enjoy. I really don't care if gank squad is going after me or not, there is no fair war anyway.

Too many games out there off better pvp incentives. Disco caters to the experienced. And shits on those who know not.
Why would anyone waste their time on this when they can pick up something easier to learn, that's more active and feels more balanced? sure it's lacks the variety of disco but ... who's going to care if they don't see all of what's on offer?
Most new players are going to earn fast, die fast and leave fast without seeing the majority of disco.

That's not true necessarily - there are groups willing to die and give themselves handicaps against newer players in PvP, not all server is 1:1 gitgut type of people.
Disco age issue is that people need to do this themselves rather than a matchmaking algorhythm forcing it upon them.

No...
You're talking about people who've played disco or freelancer for a while.. When you're sucking someone into something you let them in on an even playing ground
Activision knows this really well
When you a beat a noobie into oblivioin the likelihood of them wanting to continue is very low. The likely hood of them blaming the game and moving on is high..
I'm glad you enjoy your experience in disco but that's not how new players would see an enjoyable experience
