I mean, if the owner didn't bother to somehow respond to BretGov for a week or didn't even log into the game for the time frame and didn't take notice about the base getting removed, Bretonia is just as dead now as it was one week before, except for people having been able to shoot at Bretonian siege ships.
Space Tamagochi is fun, but you can't pick only the fun parts of the game and ignore stuff like doing the absolute minimum of responding to an RP comm. The moment you build a destructible base in Discovery, you sorta have to keep in mind that it is, uh, destructible. Hell, a few years ago people paid both the lawfuls for protection and the unlawfuls for not getting sieged.
It's really not Darius' job to wait months for someone to potentially respond or not. It's actually the job of the PoB owner to take care of the PoB, both ingame and forum-wise, simply to prevent situations like these.
What .... situations? Show me precedents for this when your own gov sieges licensed bases at 85%+ after just a week after contacting them with 0 buildups and no law articles. Bases that were on for many years. I won't say much if it were unlawfuls, but this was their own gov!
'I would like to be half as clever as some people like to believe they are' Life is full of disappointments, it is how we handle them that helps to define us, as a person
Individual players not role playing properly is one thing, but a government not obeying it's own laws and destroying licensed POBs is just sad.
Make new laws, increase the fee to obtain/renew licenses, impose reasonable restrictions on how far a POB can degrade before the military can make boom are just a few examples of what could be done to properly address the problem of space trash. I agree that there is a problem of too many abandoned POBs floating around. This, however, is not the correct course of action.
Unfortunately, the toxics chased away a dev that had a fix for this problem. But I'll just shut up and color.
It ain't about what you are capable of, it's about what you're willing to do.
Yeah, this is how unlawfuls are supposed to act, not lawfuls - lawfuls have docking, no opposition as they are sieging bases that paid them and are also lawful, have access to full cap line. Destruction should be the last resort and I doubt the laws would even pass staff approval without some monetary fine sub-step?
It's completely normal btw to let bases degrade some 15% and then restock at once when it's high core, so you can take breaks from the game - I just don't understand why gov would ever go the quick destruction route after one post and a couple bumps for barely degraded bases ?

This.
There also seems to be a problem of gov blaming the state of affairs with pobs on admins and rules, by the sound of it (could be wrong, I'm not psychic).
Gov wouldnt be wrong about that, but the truth is govs, admins, and devs could all be doing a better job of managing pobs, individually and collectively.
However that would require open and honest conversations where a rational discussion of ideas takes place, between govs, admins, devs, players that have pobs, and those that are annoyed by them.
But that is something discoGC is genuinely incapable of doing.
Not because it's actually that hard, but because the "major parties" here are entrenched in their closed channel echo chambers, egos, tribes, and lets call a spade a spade... brain dead one-liner meme way of thinking and "arguing" that disco has made the obligatory end-all of every attempt of discussion.
inb4
"delete pobs"
"lol conspiracy"
"heavy decision"
"disco is old game and glorious staff does this for free so show them some humility/respect/submissiveness"
I can only agree with you two. I honestly have a lot of things to say, about a lot of the decisions BretGov made, etc., etc., etc., but I won't continue to share my opinions here; mainly because it's a feedback thread, and I follow what @St.Denis said about this "discussion", so this will be my last "contribution".
Then again, everything you said so far is aligning with my point of view.

Also quoting this to make it very much clear that, once again, it is unfortunately very true. It plagues the entire discoGC "community". It can't be called a community anymore at this point honestly. It's just closed echo chambers, groups of people, biased people who confirms their skewed and distorted point of views, and these echo chambers only intensifying within them these distorted PoV and opinions: and what you get is closed-off sub-communities who hate each other and think they're the "only sane people and everyone is just an A-hole", or something like that.
It's applicable in this case as well.
I believe another thread should be made about this, but nobody here is reasonable, and are indeed entrenched. It will be merely be going back and forth because:
"my opinion > your opinion", and nobody will ever change their opinion(s) here.
Actually please allow me to mention that the feedback was taken into consideration. As already stated, the base registration laws were amended as a first step. I'm right now a bit busy with working over other threads but the base laws will be overhauled soon enough to make more sense.
Answering this from my personal account so people don't just believe we exist for nothing. I'll set up a motion in BretGov in the next days detailing what we can/can't change, etcetera.

Bare with us.
That is good to hear. I would suggest also that any current POB licensed under Bret Gov NOT be grandfathered into new laws and policies and that they will apply after renewal of licenses. Reason for this is that people spent money under certain conditions. It would not be fair to change those conditions without at least monetary compensation.
It ain't about what you are capable of, it's about what you're willing to do.
