Current iterations of Nomad factions provide you a grandiose choice of picking between circlejerkers and transport hunters.
Indies on their own aren't bad, but the faction's way too restricted to keep indies around and expect them to stay active (as is evidenced by the fact Nomad indies have been largely gone since 2021).
you talk a lot of shit for someone who doesnt know what theyre talking about
or is this you still being salty i removed you from khara chat for pinging every other chat about khara logging to do something time and time again, and leaving/rejoining every time i gave you an e-chat ban to evade the role
khara only needs a modest understanding of nomad lore and communication for you to make it, and the trial is solely to weed out people who want to abuse unlimited zoi
not sure you can call that a circlejerk bub. or do you mean the transport hunting bit? its hard to tell, vagrants were known for both for a while too
I could never understand why some of the players are mad about the Nomad.
For my part they play the role very well in Omicron. Even if some indie have a 'die Human' style RP. You can't blame the Faction because you have exactly the same type of interaction with other factions. Like CNS-Paul in Legate saying 'lol, Outcasts'.
And then the received idea that Powertrade in Omicron is a peaceful life. Well no.
Also just log Order or Core and remove them. Easy fix.
The community overall has ludicrous amounts of money. The Barge spendings and the Special Equipment Dealership total over 1 trillion credits.
I really don't think we need another source of server-generated cash flow. There are surely players around willing to fund bounty hunting; one of them just volunteered.
I think the bigger problem is the paperwork involved. If players could pay into a bounty pool and have bountyhunting handled via server plugin that would be fine but not having an automated way to claim and pay out bounties is meh. Maybe if there was some sort of API to transfer money between characters we could outsource this to the community but I'm not sure if that's possible.
I also agree with Darius about removing Nomads as a playable faction simply because of the nature of the RP, which is borderline powergamy. If Nomads were mute NPCs, with players being allowed to pilot them only during events, then that might have some sense but overall the entire notion of "Nomad RP" in my view is just a meme that's been allowed to go on for way too long. (***warmth***)
Of course it's not going to happen because too many people with influence on disco are already too heavily invested into nomads but I'm just saying what it looks like from the outside
I mean who cares, nobody is forcing you to play along - I do love those PMing nomads of old
I'll take them over those "nomads are dangerous" bots who might as well have been NPCs any day. Frankly, entity is more fun than them and they are making a strong case why nomads should either not be playable or just be an event thing.

You're right about that; the annoying paperwork is certainly a deterrent. It's why I personally never really got into bounty hunting.
The flipside is that it also serves as an effort threshold to prevent exploiting, as in, people meeting up and killing each other deliberately to cash in on bounties. If communicated solely over voice, this would be virtually impossible to prove.
There's no way of knowing this for sure, but I suspect that this is a rare occurrence now. It just wouldn't be worth it generally.
If there's an automated plugin however, this could be done with way less effort and way less attention drawn, and unscrupulous players might be more inclined to make some quick cash that way.
It's why I've always been skeptical of such a system, which wouldn't be too hard to implement from a technical standpoint.
As one of the few active bounty hunters in the server, I do agree with most of weskers point. However the issue I ran in to when I/we started playing Bounty Hunters was the ZOI and ofc the paper work, people keep saying "unlimited zoi" yet that's far from the truth. You have to be registered on 95% of the bounty boards, you have to write down which factions can be engaged in which systems, some BBs have a scale up like Kusari ones where you only get a few zones at first. Then you run in to a problem where you're a bounty hunter wandering i don't know lets say sigmas, you see a hostile target... you have to go through each and all bounty board lists to see IF you can even engage the hostile... If their faction is not bountied or you're not registered, you simply can't engage doing what your faction is meant to do HUNT. I find that very obnoxious, thankfully some BBs have made Sirius Wide bounties a thing so it's easier to play the ID, up until then it was very bad not to mention the payments... thanks to BAF for sacrificing so much credits and making bounty hunting a thing again btw.
I've talked about this with back then admin Aerelm who has sadly left us, he clarified it was super easy to just put a simple plugin for bounty hunters to get bounty money same as with NPCs. However with that ID changes need happen, meaning adding an ID line that you can actually attack hostile targets without having to go through the trouble of paper work and registering not to mention claiming which is another headache, miss one ID screenshot with time and your claim is invalid ... especially in big battles where you have over 15 opponents taking all their ID screenshots is very much pain and plainly not pleasant .
Having Bounty Boards is fine, but you should not be forced to do forum work if you do not desire. The ones that want extra money should put in extra work on the forums, the ones that don't shouldn't they should be paid a little sum of cash in game and not get SANCTIONED for not claiming .
