Back in the day, Omega-5 had a legendary status among Rheinland players for the chaotic and sweat-inducing fights that went on there between the Red Hessians and the Corsairs. These fights often involved multiple other factions, like the Coalition, the Bundschuh, the BAF, the Gaians, etc. Ever since vanilla, the Hammen Hole -- a massive clearing in the Barrier rocks there filled with wrecks, lootable and not, from both sides -- has been present, a gigantic gash in the beautiful natural scenery carved out by the bloodthirst of the neighborhood's two top dogs. However, as best as I can tell, the days of epic fleet battles in the Hammen Hole are long past.
Why not bring them back? Simply put, I'm proposing that both Corsair and Hessian IDs (including any OFs they may have) be given a "Hammen Hole collateral damage line" to their IDs.
Proposed addition to Hessian and Corsair IDs Wrote:- May engage any ship belonging to non-allied factions in Omega-5
This proposal, or perhaps some kind of toned-down version of it (or even turned-up! why not ANY ship of a different faction?), would hopefully breathe some life into the system, and that activity might bleed over into the rest of southern Sirius over time. Plus, it might give those addicted to conn.exe some motivation to do their thing out somewhere it actually contributes meaningfully to server activity. And, as a last addendum, it would encourage players and factions to set up events in the system -- beyond simple "DTR vs RHA @ XYZ-o'clock", I imagine something like "Zoner convoy to FP1 gets mistaken by Hessians as headed for Cadiz, long chase ensues" would be much more accessible with this line.
If it's added on an experimental basis and goes well, similar lines could be added to other factions for their respective "front-line systems".
edit: i just realized that unlawfuls can already attack any combat ship in their ZoI, usually including their own allies. maybe for the one system it could be extended to transports, or longer-term plugin rewards could be given for killing reds in the particular system, or pvp-death-timer could be lowered or something, idk. regardless, find some way to loosen/encourage combat in frontline systems even moar?

I feel that system like this could use some long-term PvP rewards from plugin for Hessians and Corsairs, even though this system discourages cap gameplay in it. Perhaps it could draw more snubs in there if they could make some money from it?
I know that something like that was set for the Insurgency x Liberty Navy, but conflict between the Hessians and Corsairs is unmistakably better set up.
Well as it stands we have tried to extend dead systems with Zois for Lawfuls so skirmishes can take place. But the lead story dev stepped in against the wishes of players into an admin decision. Nothing would help, he doesn't give a damn. Even getting the sign-off of all OF the faction leaders, lawful and unlawful, for him that's irrelevant. That was the case with very obvious systems that would benefit everyone - O3,O7, Zurich, Cologne. When the obvious systems don't get the chance to be alive there is currently no chance of getting Omega-5 Zoi extension for house lawful factions, even though Zoi extensions don't mean RP consequences or law enforcement. These regions are doomed to lay idle sadly because of proactive meddling of people who don't even play there.
EDIT: Bretonia does have Zoi actually so you could see them, zero chance Rheinland will be given it too though. But my rant was misplaced a bit here hah
With the NPC Battlezones being such a success, I can well imagine a threeway battlezone of Corsairs vs Hessians vs Bretonia in one area of the Hammen Hole. It certainly is big enough to support both PvP and PvE. Considering all three factions are red to each other, that may be one of very few places where that kind of threeway works. Among all those asteroids, BIS could probably have a little outpost there for players to stage from. Would definitely be fun to see NPC Jormungands trying to use their forward guns.

Longer-term PvP plugin bonus idea was also swept away sadly. Skorak has done that before in Vespucci but we were told it won't happen anymore, we got this from admins when requesting a perk for something like this

It was there actually the battlezone, snubs and GBs which was extremely scarcely used though
EDIT: The idea is that intsad of a battlezone that can be awkward to fight in you have a plugin for combat on for either longer periods like a month or even semi-permanently to promote PvP where you want it. That'd be cool for Omega-5, you could even do a monthly leaderboard announcement with some minor rewards - seems like it's not staff priority now though

Which is exactly why threads like this are valuable to show that they are more popular than the devs may otherwise think. They aren't mind readers.
Anyways, am I perhaps biased as someone who enjoys snub pvp? Yes. But overall I think this could work nicely, and could probably work for caps too given all factions involved do have access to them. I personally think three way fleet fights are fun as hell, so I'd love to see it work out.
Edit: Given the omegas tend to also be quiet, it's nice from the perspective of giving a greater reason to go there, too.

I like it as a concept overall - events are a lot of work and take place over a short time...putting semi-permanent plugin somewhere gives PvPers stuff to do, rewards players could do the RP, writeup so there's little staff work - these systems are completely dead anyways, lots of potential benefit for little work, nothing to lose, especially when we talk about Omega-5. Farmers have their battlezones that invite cap fights.
Why not do this for snubbers who could farm money via plugin by killing each other. Only downside is potential abuse but that'll be super easy to spot if you keep + publish scores monthly or some such. Maybe it has to come from Staff themselves rather than a perk request

Combining NPCs and players is an awful idea for PvP right now - NPCs are too disturbing. I'd much rather see player characters invested in the conflict and their factions than nameless and clueless NPCs.
I believe that something could be suitable for this system as it's literally the bloodiest conflict among unlawful factions in Sirius if my memory is correct.

Yes, duh - make a semi-permanent PvP Plugin in systems like this, not NPCs. Omega-5 is awful for caps anyways, it would benefit snubbers. I see no reason why not to have PvP battlezones. the PvE ones are amazing at promoting activity, but it's 95%+ CAP ship activity. Just pure through one writeup + pvp plugin you could incentivize people to pew each other in otherwise unused systems. The main issue you will have is regions without this whining
Having a semi-permanent pvp plugin in a system would also incentivize us to make player events there to take advantage of it
