After a disastrous mining accident wrought massive damage to the station and claiming the lives of 38 station crew and passengers, Makassar Station was out of commission for several months whilst an investigation was ongoing. The third party mining company that was eventually named the culprit have been charged through interstellar courts and the administration of the station hope that justice will be brought to them.
After investigations concluded, a large insurance claim was settled and the investments of prominent ISE hedge funds have surfaced to bring the station back online, though heavy reconstruction was needed. The conglomerate administration of Makassar has now been reaching out to its network of commercial partners to supply the steady stream of materials, fabricators, and personnel to rapidly bring Makassar back to its full operational status.
