House Governments, a contentious issue. For a long time, there has been something of a disconnect between the at least theoretically massive powers to amend the laws and diplomacy of an entire house, which affects many IDs, and the way house governments were run by players. Generally, this was left to the players' discretion, though more than once staff had to step in when things didn't go smoothly. Rules in regards to what is or is not a house government were eventually implemented, but they've proven very difficult to enforce.
We will be polishing those up a bit, and taking a more active role in overlooking what those governments are doing. Found in the Faction Rules, this will be the rule going forward:
The House Governments of Bretonia, Gallia, Kusari, Liberty, and Rheinland, will be made up of the faction leaders of every Official Police, Military, Intelligence, and Corporate faction with an ID classification belonging to that house. All of these leaders will have equal votes in their respective governments, and their proceedings will be supervised by staff in DiscoveryGC Official Discord government channels.
Additionally, players will no longer be able to post directly with official government accounts. Posts made in the official capacity of a house will have to be approved first.
We hope to cut down on a lot of ambiguity and shadowy business this way. The members are very clearly defined, the votes are clearly defined, there will be no more members that should not be in a government taking part in it, or members that should be in a government being excluded.
If you are an Official Faction leader of the aforementioned house factions, expect to be added to these new government chats soon.
While that sounds great, I have the problem that I'm banned from the official discord.
So are you guys going to lift that ban? (i.e. would be enough to give the players like me a restricted role, so they can only do their work in the gov's - that would be fine for me.)
Sure, I believe it is normal that "official" government has to have a staff member oversee each post by said "official" government account before posting, I agree and you have my support on this, as a representative part of the Great Assembly.

The Government of Gallia is not a "dictatorship", you have not taken the time to read what has been very explicitly stateted:
We have been a government where the unofficial factions will also be able to participate in the decision; they are not leading Gallia, the Official Factions does. We have made this so: 1) as you said, there won't be a single faction leading the entire House; 2) every representative agreed that they would participate in the betterment of the House; 3) we have followed down to the letter the rule.
There is a reason it's called [Great] (to fit with the roleplay) Assembly: we are an assembly of factions, gathered around, to make decisions.

I believe we can still function the way we are (i.e: having unofficial factions also giving their position on the decisions before posting), correct?
Since each post will be overseen by a staff member (I would also like to know the specifics of such things please, so that I can relay it to the government properly as well), or how far will it go?
Also, how about licenses-giving? They fall into this overseeing operations as well? Such as, say, an innocuous request about a Matrix for a Freelancer? Or a Bustard-class into Gallia?

Don't do anything to get yourself banned in the discord. Pretty simple. Put in a player request for your unban.
I second that this is a change that should've came a long time now, but I think it'd be a lot healthier to either make the Government consist of both the 1ic and 2ic of an OF. In addition to that, if either the 1ic or 2ic of a faction isn't able to take up that spot (reduced activity for example) they should have the ability to be replaced with a faction representative instead after their written agreement.
This system also fails to consider the factions that aren't official, something which some Govs (cough cough, Libgov, cough cough) already realized and took measures towards that.
Good idea, pretty lackluster implementation in my honest opinion. I understand that some people just can't be assed to play by the rules and end up screwing over the entire playerbase, but your now mandatory Government build is just a worse version of what we (Libgov) already had. We had achieved a very good level of representation of our house by involving OFs, non-OFs and even people in there who didn't represent any faction but where there because they're respected and logical.
