because the staff has a stellar record of getting regular requests done in a timely manner, let alone voting on mounds of mundane shit handled by player governments
get ready for 3 month waits on your requests kids
EDIT this is especially dumb considering how extremely scarce official factions are in houses now. libgov has thirteen (13!) people who handle votes, where if you dumb it down to official factions only, it'll become 3? 4? people.

In addition to that, if either the 1ic or 2ic of a faction isn't able to take up that spot (reduced activity for example) they should have the ability to be replaced with a faction representative instead after their written agreement.
This system also fails to consider the factions that aren't official, something which some Govs (cough cough, Libgov, cough cough) already realized and took measures towards that.
Good idea, pretty lackluster implementation in my honest opinion. I understand that some people just can't be assed to play by the rules and end up screwing over the entire playerbase, but your now mandatory Government build is just a worse version of what we (Libgov) already had. We had achieved a very good level of representation of our house by involving OFs, non-OFs and even people in there who didn't represent any faction but where there because they're respected and logical.
You're ruining this.
A system in place elsewhere too. Kherty pointed out how Gallia approached it. Kusari also had "who is respected across factions, unofficials and OFs" as approach. Both Gallia and Kusari had transparency on membership.
I agree with the 1ic + 2ic approach and the full exclusion of unofficials is just a bad move imho. Some of these never desired officialdom yet worked together with the rest of their house, now they're ending up practically forced to pursue officialdom to have a proper voice.
Why can't bad decisions by governments be judged on case by case basis?
Instead this will be put under blanket supervision that will prolong changes and triple the efforts required to do even the smallest amount of roleplay.
How will this play out, if staff thinks that random non-house POB near X planet should be approved?
This is another push towards staff having absolute oversight over everything.
Maybe start sponsoring Government bounty boards too?
Next up, imagine having to go through supervision for every single minor post, including: this or that
As a lot of replies has been posted; please let me add my questions which have been edited (to add new questions), as a member of one of these Governments, it is my duty to make things clearer so that I can relay, and edit the rules governing our modus operandi (since we welcome all factions about the House in the government (while following the rules, naturally))

I believe we can still function the way we are (i.e: having unofficial factions also giving their position on the decisions before posting - while still respecting the rules, I insist on this as I have received wrong reports about how "we" "didn't" and let certain players "do what they want" - if needed for the staff, I can show you the entire logs, and testimonies of each members, but know that we convene on another platform (which does not make evidences impossible to be considered as such (i.e. recording).), correct?
Since each post will be overseen by a staff member (I would also like to know the specifics of such things please, so that I can relay it to the government properly as well), or how far will it go?
Also, how about licenses-giving? They fall into this overseeing operations as well? Such as, say, an innocuous request about a Matrix for a Freelancer? Or a Bustard-class into Gallia?
We have the Executive Orders, which gives "orders" (to fit with the military roleplay the Gallic Union goes for), how would this affect this, since they are designed to be distributed to the population as fast as possible (such as newly-discovered threat being publicized online (think about how this is widespread in the world, and how they appear in real-life, this was very much an example that fits for when COVID-19 was at it's "peak" (it's still here))
I am also afraid of requests being delayed unnecessarily because of this. Licenses-giving is a system we have went for, after convening with the Assembly, and ruled it as the new approach for the Government. Therefore, I am afraid this will make license-giving a lot more difficult, and slow. If you can revise this, by, I don't know, allowing members of the government to allow said license giving, then, make the government account edit it after

I am not personally opposed to some kind of system that allows "valuable" unofficial factions participate. Writing it into rules is the somewhat challenging part.
I do however have a hot take (partially courtesy of Karst) to share on the whole 1ic / 2ic "problem": if your 1ic isn't willing to have a gov role in a Discord chat somewhere and work with the rest of their House to get stuff done, perhaps they're not that well-suited to being your faction's OFL.

this here. most of these people in libgov are not in official factions (or leading at all)
theyre people who are extremely familiar with liberty and various aspects of it. staff already dealt with 'controversial' decisions by just saying no, so now youre just going to cut the amount of people involved down massively and stick your notoriously glacial fingers into what is often just sifting through POB, ship, and tech requests?
please.
