NASSAR EMBRY PLANET NEW LONDON, NEW LONDON CAPTAINS LOG
13TH OF MARCH, 834 AS.
The war is over.
I finally have to accept that much.
I see now that I will receive no justice or closure in the wake of what the Gauls took from me. My family is gone, massacred on Leeds during the horror of the war. Our businesses are in ruins, ground into dust by the indiscriminate bombing of foreign savages. Our ships are destroyed, floating wrecks in the emptiness of space. All I have left to my name is the family estate on New London and the whispers that haunt the empty halls.
Of course, I tried. As soon as the war ended, I retired from the Armed Forces, gave up command of the Centaur, and returned to pick up the pieces of what were left behind. I knew that the Crown and Admiralty couldn't stomach any more war, so I thought I could become something of a politician at home, to advocate for justice for those who suffered the most, but the people's stomachs are just as weak, it seems. My cries have fallen on deaf ears, and what is left of my wealth is exhausted in the name of revenge. I am left with no choice but to liquidate what assets remain to me on New London and start again among the stars.
It's time to leave it all behind.
I've only known war in my life. First with the Kusarians, and then with the Gauls. I was born to stand on the bridge of a ship, yet I have no war left to fight. I do, however, know how to run a ship and run it well, so I guess it comes as no surprise to anyone that I've decided to seek my fortune among the lanes of Sirius. I know it won't be easy; I have no ship, no crew, and no connections with the factions that call Sirius home. The road ahead is hard, but nothing in life has ever been easy for me. So I've decided to acquire a ship. Nothing fancy, nothing special. I remember talk of a Freelancer Station in Coronado, Barrier Gate Station I believe it was called. Apparently, they sell some of the most dependable fighters this side of Liberty. I should have just enough to acquire and outfit one of these fine ships, so I've hired a shuttle to take me there first thing in the morning. I figure I can make a decent living with a dependable fighter; plenty of undesirables in Sirius need to disappear after all. If I manage to survive, I might be able to buy a freighter or maybe even a transport. Then the credits should flow like water.
I'm actually really looking forward to this.
