"The cruel and twisted. They are ruthless raiders who strike without warning, slaughtering or enslaving all who stand in their way. Having fallen far into the depths of depravity, their every waking moment is dedicated to inflicting pain and suffering on the inhabitants of Bretonia and the Omegas."
Short Brief
The history of the Black Sails spans many generations. Originally founded decades ago as a rag-tag group of raiders from Omega-5, a blood feud between its predecessors broke the group apart. The original Sails were known for their brutality and effectiveness in combat. In recent years, the Corsairs have been much more diplomatic than in generations past, trying to build an empire using negotiation rather than combat prowess. This doesn’t sit well with everyone on Crete. Many Cretans come from a long lineage of raiding and pirating, and the idea of “playing nice” grates on their heritage. Slowly, sentiment within the Corsair population is starting to swing towards a more traditionalist approach.
Spearheading this movement is infamous raider Arthur Ortega. Ortega is a 4th generation Corsair raider, primarily operating in Bretonia. He has an affinity for violence, and sees the current Elder’s ideologies as poison to Cretan society. Although he is charismatic, he can fly into fits of rage, and his closest confidants don’t think he is entirely sane. Ortega has grown a following, garnering enough pilots to form two potent battlegroups, intent on subverting Bretonia to their will using their superior technology and experienced pilots.
The Black Sails Guild operates in Bretonia and the Omegas. Its main battlegroups are stationed in Trafalgar, New London and Battlecruiser Santander, Dublin, concentrating their operations in Southern Bretonia and the Omegas. The Black Sails despise artifact trading, and believe in traditional piracy as a way of life. It is rumored on Crete that the Sails practice slavery, ritual sacrifices and even occasional cannibalism and care little for the Corsair Elders, oftentimes pirating their so-called "allies", rather than engaging in diplomatic relations. The Sails are also much more traditionalist when it comes to their brutality, relying on their superior firepower and their moral disregard to brute-force their way to victory.
Quests
The current goals of the guild are:
Assume total control of the Dublin system, seizing the gold route and subduing the Mollys' movement in the region, while destroying the Bretonian blockade, ensuring gold can flow back through the Omegas and ultimately to Crete.
Ensure safe passage through the Omegas by neutralizing and controlling Hessian and Coalition forces in the region.
Gather a more traditionalist following from Cretan society, relying on chaotic raids rather than imperialistic ideas.
