The save games get wiped on launcher start up to prevent crashes on each patch.
Singleplayer is for testing with commands primarily. The mod is multiplayer focused, so its generally advised you play on Multiplayer to get the full experience (jump drives, cloaks, other plugins that arent supposed for singleplayer etc)
1. Save as usual.
2. Go to your save folder (Documents\my games\Freelancer\Accts\SinglePlayer)
3. Copy your saves to another folder.
4. After starting the game next time, copy the saves back.
5. If your saves are not displayed, make another save (with a different name). They should now appear.
There is a smarter way of doing this. You can launch Discovery straight from the Freelancer.exe. That way your saves won't be deleted. Issue is, UI will me messed up, unless your screen resolution is 4:3.
Here’s how you fix that.
1. Navigate to the folder where Discovery is installed (Discovery mod, not Freelancer game!)
2. Navigate to EXE folder and find a file called Freelancer.exe
3. Create a shortcut of this file, to your Desktop for example
4. Right-click on the shortcut and select Properties
5. In the “target” section add the following, where the numbers are your screen resolution
-d1920x1080
Target should look something like this:
C:\Games\Discovery\EXE\Freelancer.exe -d1920x1080
Now just launch this shortcut to play the game. Your saves wont be deleted.
