IFF:Technocracy Location:Inverness, Sector F4 Access:TFP), A/)Situated just on the perimeter of Invergordon in Inverness, El Alto Research Facility is a former ALG refinery converted to the development and construction of military equipment for Task Force Prometheus, the last survivors of the Commonwealth of Liberty. Now bristling with defensive platforms and with the heavy refining machinery replaced by assembly lines, a small portion of the station is reserved for R&D, updating aging Legion and Commonwealth equipment to match modern standards with the help of Technocrat expertise. This results in a visually strange hybridization of technology, with the rough-and-tumble designs of the Commonwealth melded seamlessly with the smooth lines and sleek surfaces favored by their hosts in the Technocracy of Auxo.
The facility's foremost goal is the development of exotic tactical equipment. Its secondary goal, however, is the development of advanced weaponry and the start of production of old Legion designs, most notably the now-publicly-available line of Judgments, Retributions, Flamberges, and Brimstones, they are also attempting to update the Hailstorm and Firelance weapons, though resources are yet too limited to go into full production. Commonwealth thrusters, engines, and the sort are also under production, as are reproductions of codename weaponry.
A closed-off section has been designated for research into the technology that drove the Legion's founding: The Spyglass scanner. Named for the class of the original LNS Ragnarok that fled Liberty to found the Hellfire Legion, this once-advanced scanning technology is now decades out of date, with development stalling when the old Spyglasses were converted to more combat-oriented Arbiters. While adaptations have been made by the factions granted access in exchange for support by the desperate early Legion, neither the Hackers' Spyglass Network nor the Order's Resheph program fit modern Task Force needs. Nor would they grant access if they did: Decades of increasing ideological zealotry and reckless experimentation within the Legion and Commonwealth alienated both factions, once close allies, and their expertise is now locked out of reach for the new Task Force.
As such, the Facility has begun development of a modern iteration of the Spyglass. Rather than implementing the miniaturization of the Minified Spyglass Scanner now publicly available, scientists who survived the Fall of Vespucci are instead focusing on restoring the original scale and scope of the scanner, developing the original oversized scanner to further heights. Whether they will be successful—and what they will do with such updates, given their dearth of available warships—remains to be seen.
