If people are really concerned about pricing, look at the alternatives to upkeep your base.
Or, you know, don't build one.
Have you ever, ever seen anyone mining water? Especially with the slow-ass, no-tradelane Hegemon? *crickets*

Plenty of people mine water or buy it for hydroponics. Your incapability to adapt to the new system does not mean that the system is a failure or too expensive, you're just trying to brute force the old way of handling PoBs in a new system. Adapt, overcome, enjoy
Last words are for fools who have not yet said enough.

Yes, myself.
You poor bastard. You have my heartfelt sympathy.
I used to mine it in an Albatross. Before the changes to the Hegemon were introduced.

"Price developments don't matter!" Said no businessman ever. This server is just Pew-Pew-focused (with some superficial political RP to justify it) , anything else, like the shitty economy (Water on water-planets more expensive than on Orleans?) or people who want to build something don't get much love. People wonder why the player count stays low, but there have been so many missed opportunities for players to actively shape the environment together with the devs, so not many new things are happening that keep players here or attract new people.
A completely different thought for the devs: years ago the idea of one single, a bit more expensive commodity to supply the POBs was turned down. However, in the meantime the POB mechanics have changed, credits can be "eaten" when constructing a core-upgrade, so why not skipping supplying the bases altogether and establish an upkeep cost, like 100-200.000 Cr/day that get slowly eaten and repair the base and keep the crew happy? To mimic real life workings of a crew where such menial tasks like filling up the storage are delegated? Or establish this as a second pathway when a POB runs out of supplies, which are consumed first, but not out of money. Then the POBs start losing hitpoints only when the money runs out. The opinion seems to be anyway that POBs are welcome money sinks. Robotics/Hull segments can still be in the storage for additional battle-repairs if needed.
Let me know what you think, I guess this is way more immersive than welding 5000 units of alloy a day to the hull of a base for "wear and tear" damage, in an age where alloys can deflect even asteroid collisions.

PoB supplying is simplified in the current state to focus on F/O/W and basic alloys, it could be cut down with basic alloy upkeep but then replaced with a constant demand for MOX to power the station. Generally the focus stays small so only a couple things really need to be kept tracked.
Bases being maintained with credits goes against the idea that PoBs are an investment and should not be left sticking there left to rot with 50mil in the bank for years on end. If you run a PoB you should expect to put in the time and money, which comes in the form of upkeep costs which to be frank are pretty cheap and cheaper in some locations even still.
