Yeah, I understood that. I was just pointing out a prior experience I had and where it went awry, so you guys have a jump start.
' Wrote:It's Not "snitchin' " if anything it's and advanced warning system, however, pirate does come across an STC agent, they can do one of 3 things, A. Bribe them. B. threaten them. C. Shoot them.
A Provides the problem of corruption which could be dealt with by officials of some sort.
One other thing: How would you do your ID? I'd think generic trader, unless that's discontinued in 4.85.
I ask this from the pirate standpoint: if you're giving out their locations and activities, they need to be able to legally (server rules) neutralize you.
To build on this, you could then hire escorts to patrol, or have your own, etc.
' Wrote:One thing that would be needed would be a forum for the STCs. In it, they could keep a running list of who's a trader, who's a smuggler, and who's a pirate. We would have it passworded, and ONLY trusted people, who could be counted on to not metagame would be allowed access.
Trader list example:
Generic_Trader
Preferred Route: Manhattan > LD-14
Currently flying: Transport
Ship ID: Sqk 4216
Pirate list example:
Generic Pirate
Common sighting area: Magellan > Leeds Jumphole
Currently flying: Lane Hacker Gunship
Ship ID: PIR 2248
I think Google docs would be great for that. Everyone can access that as far as Im aware.
As for the chat, have all the STC in their own group.
The traders can pm or system which ever they like and the STC replies in kind. If info needed on other systems then the STC can ask in their group all that stuff and relay it to the trader/pirate.
STC can watch who enters their system and pm them when arrival or something, requesting Role and IFF.
If a pirate, the STC could mention something about "be advised, police reported in the area, Last seen Colorado JG."
If a trader or police, they would say "no pirates reported," or "Pirates sighted in system, near sector 6D"
I think the STC would be a lawful-oriented corporation/mechanism, but stays neutral if a pirate asks them info. If the Police asks for pirate locations then the STC would give it to them, instead of the STC reporting to police if that makes sense. And if the Pirates asked if traders or police are in system then the STC would give that info to them as well.
So the STC would be a trader/pirate/police initiated contact and respond to the initiating players queries, rather than STC telling everyone everything.
Thoughts?

then that would put traders and pirates one equal footing. When we initiate the STC, traders, (for a time) will have an advantage, thus giving the pirates the initiative to be a bit more creativity in collecting their "booty, yarg!".

STC ID... hrm... Because of it's applications it could fall under Civilian ID because you don't need to be a high level or a good craft to be an STC operator, however, should it be required, I guess a Trader ID would be the way to go.
(If only we could get our own ID in the next mod... but alas there maybe abuse unless they hand it out personaly)
Forum's set, now to get more folks. I figure we'd need around 16 people to staff every House system, and if we did 24/7...well, we can't, because nobody's gonna wanna do shifts. Still.

That would be ideal, if we can get enough people and decide on shifts, we could work as STC and play our other Identities another time.
(EG 1 day your an STC operator, the next day your a trader, the next, a pirate holding someone hostage, though, those of you who plan to be both STC and Pirate, please don't use your STC connections and knowledge)
