Trading ship suggestion:
Maybe bigger one's without cruise engines? That would be a real counterweight. Sure you got trade lanes, but if you want some bigger money trips you're gonna need a big escort because most NPCs will eat you. My trans got eated by Wilde npc just now. Or maybe I was doing it wrong? tongue.gif
Overall trading change:
Also, maybe it would be an idea to increase the base prices of for lets say all the big trade-route commodities.
Why?
I'll give an example.
At the current state Diamonds cost about 200 credits in Rheinland.
You can sell em for bout I dunno 1400 or 1800.
What if we add another 1000 to the base cost (and ofcourse the sell cost to not change the trade routers).
What's the use of an upped price? A higher cost to fill up your cargo hold (e.g. 6 million (5000x1200) instead of 1 million (5000x200)) and thus making you somewhat more lenient to pay up to pirates instead of going for the: "my cargo's worth only 1 million, no way I'm going to pay 2 million" approach).
On the other side the only downside might be that pirates might just become too aggressive and just kill you for your cargo. Though that would be ooRP-way of pirating.
Side-effect: might make hunting AI transports a bit more worthwhile too, as well as mining.
Introduction of big RP PVP events to instigate new server RP history.
Some concepts: Gaians taking over Luxury Liner Shetland.
Pre-arranged stuff: Admin makes accounts which are distributed amongst the people that apply on the forum (should be easy to do, just make an account for Freelancer Account Manager and have them use that.
Effect for the Gaians winning: If the Gaians manage to kill the defenders and board the Shetland, Spa and Cruise will lose ownership to Gaians.
Effect: Gaian commodities bought/sold + new dock place for the Gaians. E.g. for new commodities: Vegetarian food. Manafactured by their allies (Artisan Farms Alliance for example). Which are far routes, but could be given a nice profit for an RP-trade route.
Bundschuh assasinating the Gottzkanseller.
Pre-arranged stuff: Admin makes an account fit for the Gottzkanseller plus a Royal escort..
Effect for Bundschuh winning: Uncovering of the nomad inside him. Bundschuh spread propaganda and become a popular Nazi-like party within Rheinland (like what they were heading for before being banned).
Rheinland could change foreign policies towards Liberty/Bretonia (which might make a possibility for a recreation of a WW2 scenario?).
[In case of WW2]
Full-scale invasion on Texas.
Pre-arranged stuff: Admin organises a huge party of Liberty defenders and a huge party of Rheinland invaders.

Trading will be heavily redone, there's a whole team working on it... However as far as I know nobody came up with removing cruise engines from trains... that's probably due to Vanila npc's having them...
It is an interesting suggestion, offcorse no power trader will agree to it, and some ships are very hard to use in the tradelanes, for example luxury liner... but yeah...
I would love to see those pesky 5000 transports stick to the lanes. No jumphole hopping for them... And without cruise engines, jumphole hopping hardly becomes viable...
Anyhow my pirating days would probably then be restricted to smaller time traders, but at the same time that would be quite great....

If you want big money from jumphole routes you're gonna need a big escort. Yeah, and you're never gonna do it. Removing cruise engines from transports would probably kill the server. Why? Not because power traders are the pinnacle of RP, but because they're necessary for RP to happen. Taking cruise engines away from transports would make a 10 minute trade run take hours - people won't bother. Then the money supply to keep RP going will dry up.
Unless the admins start giving out whatever ship and equipment combinations people come up with an RP story for in the forums (which for obvious reasons will never happen, we have enough BH Battlecruisers on the server as-is:P), powertrading is always going to be necessary to support RP. You might be the best roleplayer in the world, you might have the best flying skills and be able to CD a trader or smuggler (depending on your lawful/unlawful-ness) from 3k away every time, but you're still going to need 20 million credits plus to buy the ship to do it in. Like I say, unless such things are given to accounts through forum requests, powertrading is always going to be a necessary evil.
Add to that the fact that most effective pirating is actually done on jumphole routes. Pirating tradelanes is inconsistent, the only situation that gives a pirate an enjoyable time is waiting on a popular TL-less trade route with cruise disruptors ready. There is no better example of this than Sigma 13, the most powertraded and pirated system in the current version of Disco. Where do the pirates sit? On the trade lane to the Honshu jumpgate? Nope. They sit near the Berlin jumphole where the transports can use their cruise engines.
No longer active online due to a dwindling amount of non-PvP (trading, pirating, mining, etc.) fun in the new version.

Well I didn't mean removing the cruise engines of the current transports, it was more a suggestion for a new transporter line. Carrying a range of 10k-50k cargo. But shipping it without cruise engines (idea would be that the cargo is too heavy and thus making it impossible for cruising).
Sure, the amount of cargo seems ridiculous, but having such a bulk allows a huge profit. The idea behind that is that you will have to split it up with your escort since there will be no route safe for these slow behemoths.

i like the idea of war events. would give the military factions alot of stuff they can do, and would fit well with my idea for military/troop commods.:)
Yea, i think thats good idea, can be sooooo excitement when you trading with some escort and i some moment... BANG ! Pirates:P. Then some fight... when all fleed from escort, the trader trying to getaway.
