Hello everyone, I'm trying to get my ship supply's setup but I'm a little unsure of how much of an item to carry as I don't know how to gauge how much each commodity is.
Take for instance the "Spaceship Crew" commodity. From the way it reads one could assume that one unit of "Spaceship Crew" could equal an entire crew, or it could be 10-15 people. Also look at things like Food Rations and Water, are we talking about a small box of rations and a gallon of water or enough of each to last a human for a week? I'm trying to find out what the community standard is so I can stock my ship properly. Thanks for the help.
I generally view one unit of 'spaceship crew' as one crew member. My ship has 8 crew members (one robot, doesnt count), so I carry 8 units of spaceship crew.
I dont generally carry food/water/etc. because it takes up space I need for cargo (I fly a gunboat so cargo is already limited), but if you're looking to set up more of a military-style or explorer-style ship, where cargo trading isnt a big deal, then I'd figure out how many crew you need for your ship and then split the rest of the cargo space up between everything else.
Example:
Your ship has 1000 cargo space, and it's cruiser-sized... so we'll say 30 crew members.
30 units of spaceship crew.
194 units of food
194 units of oxygen
194 units of water
194 units of h-fuel
194 units of pharmaceuticals
That fills up all 1000 cargo space, and pretty much shows a well-supplied ship designed for long range operations in deep space.
