There was only one thing that confused me though - when Tara leaves again - why is she so upset? unless i read wrong she had already been away for three years and had only been back a short time so would not have had a chance to get a life in order back on New Tokyo.... Or is there more going on that i didn't get.
I suspect a love interest between these two is happening.. or will happen.. right?;)

Orin's story goes all the way to our current timeline, I just haven't written (or finished, rather) that tale yet. He's only 17 in this story, in current time he'd be 31. Actually... he won't, but that's a story for another day.;)

She had been away for three years. Three years she missed her best friend and family very much. She just gets back, and within a few weeks her post is given her.
Liken it to this: You finish school, have a teary goodbye with your friends and family and head off to a faraway college. 3 years later, you're back and looking foward to spending some time back. A week goes by, time to move to Korea for that internship.
