I know from reading the assorted tutorials on the wiki page and in Korrd's excellent posts all about the program used.
I'm just curious how things are weighted in figuring out who is what rank in the game, because total money can't be all of it. Is it also how MUCH money you've had in your possession at one time or another? Or is there some mysterious combination thereof between that, time in game, and other esoteric items?
Thanks.

I believe it is simply total money as well as total resale value of everything on said character. A Battleship with 0 credits will be a much higher rank than a starflier with 40 million credits.
I'm pretty sure that it's your net worth, like on single player, which includes your money, ship, guns, shields, etc. It's worth noting that commodities don't seem to count in this, since their price changes from base to base.

Really? What value would they have then, since most bases have different prices for them? The lowest while in space and the base price when you're docked there?

Well that's what I was saying, their value doesn't affect your net worth, but since you pay money for them your net worth goes down until you resell them.
