Quote:Do you know what that leads to? Stagnant and static RP.
We tried 'dynamic' rp, we tried to move things in a new direction. To that end the liberty/order treaty was made. Similar things occured with the BLS/GMG, and the Mollies/Bretonian government. They have all been turned down by the admins, or caused the factions involved to fall apart.
Sorry, but 'static' rp is the only thing that works here. No side is ever going to win the war until Igiss decides to make such changes to the mod himself. Until then, everyone needs to stick with the standard background and behavior of the affiliation they choose to be a part of - otherwise your RP ends up interfering with someone else's, or in this case with an entire group of people.
Most players here seem to want to take a radical approach with their characters - they all want to be special, they all want to be the heroes and the guys with psychic powers or superpowerful technology - it's human nature. However, such radical RP doesnt fit with everyone else playing on the server unless it flawlessly fits in with what everyone else is currently doing.
If you want a radical character, use the special RP character forum and get admin approval. Otherwise, stick to your role as a -normal- pilot/officer of your chosen affiliation, and quit trying to stir up conflict where it doesnt belong.
Stagnation has almost destroyed some of the most complete RPs I've seen in my time here, so please don't take it as an insult when I think you're still a bit green.
I don't mind the control, I don't mind the so called 'iron fist', what bothers me most about this declaration is the obvious meta-gaming resulting from the faction title and the exclusive vein of RP that is decidedly 'good'. It eliminates the opportunity for radical twists, turns and changes.
If you say that this is exclusively how you must play, then why bother playing on a server where you can play out a role you have conjured in your own mind? As I see it, it would be pointless. What would honestly make me happy would be a measure of understanding for the community rather than explicitly stating 'you must play by our rules exactly, or we will shoot you'.
Edit: No Tenacity, I wont. I refuse to be ordered by such a hypocrite and a vulgar badger such as yourself. You make some key points every now and again, but you always come back to the position of the bully.
Static RP for the defined factions is fine, but the fact remains people get bored. We can't all do the same thing, every day, in the same way with no change. It is nice to see you can change your perspective though.
Thing is, Turkish, I'd love for everyone to be able to run their outstanding RPs through the long haul.
One catch: Do all these indies have an outstanding RPs, or are they just blasting through barriers so that they can get their PvP fix?
That's the question.
Fact is, if I went to the next stage of all my RPs, half of them would get a lot of "Hey, that's too much." So I don't. I sit back, wait, and if I get the chance, I'll take it. I don't just blast out there and say: This is my off-the-wall RP. Hinder it, and I'll complain.
We all need to suck it up sometimes. Both sides. If a few indies get out of line, talk it over. Nicely. That's what I do in game nearly every day. You know what usually happens?
They get it.
Simple as that. Talk nicely. Don't fan the flames. And most of the time these things are over as soon as they begin.
Back to the issue at hand though, order has to be maintained sometimes. Exceptions are great! They're refreshing and awesome! But this is a bloody secretive, well put together organization. In RP, would they really have all these renegades blasting holes in neutral contacts? I don't think so.
Calling you green was a bad way to describe it. But I don't think you have the perspective you would had you spent over a year watching the same events repeat themselves.
I wasn't implying that every idea should be given the go-ahead and set loose on the sector, what I was saying was that revoking everyone's right to such actions both negligent as an established faction and repressive in nature.
I already conceded that administering indies and controlling the capships isn't necessarily a bad option, given my stance when I was running the LN it would make me a hypocrite to disagree. But I refuse to accept that controlling, censoring and administering how everyone must behave is the solution.
Ya know...Dustin was pretty hardcore with how things were run with The Order and Bs|. Just a reminder that this is not the first time we have "dealt" with this.
' Wrote:As more players come to the server, and as more players like akumabito and nooblet actively try to throw the faction/indy balance into chaos with posts meant to do nothing other than incite hatred between the two, this server goes downhill. We have twice as many OORP players, in ALL ship types, as we did when I first started playing here 6~ months ago. It's getting out of hand, and the admins cant be on 24/7 to babysit the people who dont know better - I honestly think the situation here would improve if someone other than the admins (Meaning: Faction leaders) had the ability to determine who is and isnt fit for either the affiliation or the ship they're trying to get.
Now, we're tired of it. Black squadron, as the official order faction, is tired of it. I'm tired of it. Several other independent order players are tired of it. I'm sorry - but if you want to blame anyone for the new stance black squadron and the rest of us are taking on ship 'registration', blame the indies who caused this mess in the first place by not knowing how the hell their own affiliation is supposed to behave.
Thank you Tenacity. Reading through my posts in this forum, you can see that I absolutely despise factions and that I was not in any way, shape or form, try to advocate the allowance of independents and others to RP without writing something on the forum.
What this post shows is very similar to what Akumabito's posts show actually, a lack of faith in the Admins. Either that, or you are just out for literally, a powergrab. Also, at the rest of your post, again, take a SS, host the picture and post a thread in the sanction report. Maybe I should make a tutorial about it?
Edit: Yes, and while you are at it Tenacity, you with your mystical powers can disregard the fact that I am in factions and that I run two as well. Enjoy your time in the lonelicrons.
Edit 2:

We need to meet in the middle here. Is that so hard?
Well, that is what you are doing. Congratulations.
It always starts with "we want to curb OoRP" and then ends up "pay me 100 million to fly that ship or me and my thousand faction members will PVP-whore you."
well that was fun. i read every word. a few things to note:
"4.3 Factions are free to restrict or not restrict access to their home systems and tax players who enter home system."

win
also, if someone can't write a story then just post screenshots of what you RPed ingame. A "log" type narration. I think that's all Bs| is asking for here; an attempt to put RP over pure PvP. A log isn't hard and it's a great starting place.
' Wrote:I'm trying to put up a wall by asking for these guys to compromise?
Okay.
You support faction-enforced restrictions. I would call that a wall.
If you want compromise, that is the Bs| wants a compromise, perhaps a post without the words "iron fist" and the general "independents are bad because I had a bad experience with [OTF_RU] and I'm going to carry on about it" theme would go down a lot more smoothly. (Ironically, they were a faction.)
