They are busy with making their own models.
What I love is all the new effects they're adding to the game. Nothing that would make the server lag. Maybe some things could be added to Disco?

Maybe it already is:P
Igiss says: Martin, you give them a finger, they bite off your arm.
Having played IL-2 (WW2 flight sim) online, and particiated in engagements with battleships, I am totally against any sort of "flak" (should be "anti-aircraft"-FLAK=flug luft abwehr kanone) in an online game-the graphical representation just causes too much lag...even when you only have ~10-20 people connected.

Really? How so? I don't know about IL-2, but in Freelancer, graphics and FX are handled client side. If there are any negative effects due to implementation of flak, it would be purely because the client(s) pc is unable to handle it.

That's exactly the point...an online game's overall speed is a combination of the speed at which the server runs, and the speed at which the clients run...if a client runs slowly, it will impact on the server, and vice versa. Hence, if your computer is really bad (no, like really bad), you will get kicked from the server. So, either we have a very laggy experience, or very few players...neither of which are desireable...no?
One would assume that such is the case, but no. The server goes on regardless of the client computers ability to handle FX and other stuff.
The reason players with bad connections get kicked is b/c they are unplayble for others because they arent sending the server all of the packets required in the required timeframe ect.... hence lagging players looking like they are jumping everywhere.
