' Wrote:I thought of a good design for a logo. Problem is, I do NOT have the skills NOR the right programs to create it well. Coreldraw is the worst sig/logo making program ever, but I may be biased 'cause I'm just so crap at using it...
Keep trying with it. It is what I use for logo design and all I see wrong with your logo is a lack of program knowledge.
' Wrote:Encheta: Having colors represent functions is not a bad idea (though research and exploration go together - the other function is shipbuilding). Otherwise, it's a bit plain. I'd hope for a sig to have more graphics - space, ships, that type of thing. Though for an icon/avatar, what you have might be a good start for something. Of course, that depends on the eventual sig chosen - they'd obviously need to connect. One thing that might be possible is for some different graphics on the part that says IMG, but then a section (somewhere on the sig) with a color and name, associating with the division. Only problem there is that we have a number of members with multiple chars in different divisions...
That wasn't meant to be the whole sig.. Just the logo/icon thingy...
Give me a week and I can actually start working on this in earnest - I wanna see the limits of what Coreldraw can do now.. :D
This probably is a minor gravedig - but still seeing the IMG without any signature or logo, I decided to go and design something.
So, here we go:
This is the current signature draft - and I probably won't change that much anymore, though the text is - of course - not final. It's more of a placeholder until I get Trev's feedback.
The logo is, as requested, independent and can be used for further images. Here it is - the psd is on my HDD, if needed.
I took a general cogwheel shape, including the 'ancient' symbol of all miners: the crossed hammer and mallet.
Above are the shapes of a miner ship, an eagle and the shape of two stars above the top decks of Freistadt.
The 'Mining' is represented by the miner ship, as well as hammer and mallet. The ships themselves, together with the cogwheel, stand for trade and ship building. Station and outer space building, as well as exploring are represented by the station and stars.
