the current GC VHF is a bit flawed.... its quite small ( i had to place the pilot into the rear of the ship, cause the actual cockpit wouldn t be large enough and either his legs or his head would poke out ) - and it has no transparent cockpit. - furthermore, its not really in line with the bomber.
now that little concept might not be in line either too much - but it could be an mk2 version of the current VHF ( no, not a new model, - just in RP - all "old" VHF would be replaced by the new model )
this model offers a visibly tougher cockpit ( two seater ) - and reinforced wings instead of the fragile solar foils. furthermore, it has a large sensor dish in its rear - similar to the avenger of liberty.
the ship keeps its ornamental "bands" tailing it - but features one large and 4 small auxilary engines - giving it a lot more "flametail" than the current one.
the rippled "neck" ( similar to the avenger, too ) is placed there as both - a heatsink... and the idea that the complete cockpit section turns into an escape pod, rather than just the coffin shaped pods used in FL.
i m not entirely sure if a revised model for the GC is actually needed. the faction isn t too active - and the current ship has quite a nicely working balance and hitbox. - so - that one remains a concept until further notice of course.
Definitely worth replacing current one. I love the model, it looks more like GC style, and IMO it has some similarities with GC Bomber.
I really cant wait till 4.86:)
The shape is very good looking, but it's hard to decide without textures. The current GC fighter/bomber look 'cartoony' to me because of the textures - they're too solid, it looks like the ships are made out of clay or play-dough rather than steel.
A proper texture job and this thing could look great, though.
I like it better than the current one. However, you better make that one small since it will be _really_ weak in group fights. Quite the MR swallower from the looks of it.
Edit: The model is flawless when it comes to aesthetics, though.
yes - and no... the GC line is more colourful t han some other ships, but i wouldn t agree that they re cartoony ( although i cannot tell how much your own perception differs from mine of course )
about ships looking like they re made of clay - thats often a problem with ships featuring smoother shapes than for example the typical oblong vanilla ship.
the current VHF isn t a perfect shape, its also a rather early model. - but its balanced - and thats also quite important.
this concept would be larger ( well - some might say it would be a proper shape, others might complain that its simply as large as many other VHF ( meaning a lot larger than the current one ) ) - it also looks a lot more modern.
right now - i m mostly concerned about the lore / RP about the GC. - the GC are not known as great shipbuilders ( rather the opposite, i think they wreck ships in silly kamikazi crashes ) - so i guess its rather doubtful that t hey d build such a modern fighter.... now i wonder if thats true - or just rumor, cause i never RPed a GC, nor ran into many that kind of stated their base lore in such encounters.

Dragons and Outcasts build their ships for them.
Though it is known alot of them use Eagles and Rocs, because they can't afford to fly a Blossom or Orchid yet.
I'd definitely have to see it textured. I don't really know if it's "airy" enough for the GC. Agility is a big point of the current VHF and this one's definitely got some heft to it. (In contrast to that; the Orchid's infocard states that the GC wanted something heavier/could do more damage and sacrificed agility for it... So my point is moot.)
I can't help but love the swept back panels on the current VHF and Bomber too. Change the wings to the "paper" kusari wings and we might have something.
Another thing that could happen is that the Blossom could be converted to a Light Fighter/Heavy Fighter instead of VHF and this could be the new VHF.
Well, I think it is great work, but it doesnt fit the GC. The general shape is GC enough but there are some issues. First of all it is too bulky. All kusari ships have a lightness, a thinness and a smallness about them, this model really doesnt in my opinion.
The paneling on the wings, especially where the back part of the wind "drops down" to meet the front part feels off.
Also the circular u-shaped bit on the top doesnt feel right, again to bulky, though I do like the rays coming out from the center, reminds me of the Japanese imperial flag it was i believe?
The back end in general feels a little heavy, that whole rear module and the engines. I do like the wing engines, though it might be too modern and advanced for them. I do like the little tail things, though i think though could be improved by adding another curve in them, so looking at them from the thin side they appeared more S shaped. But that's just an idea.
Overall, as it is, I would say it looks more like a zoner/gc Hybrid. Great model, just doesnt feel GC enough to me.
