Eh, it's been a game mechanic since Vanilla. So no.

BUT

I'd make the Graviton shield's resistance to pulse weapons have a weakness in return, such as lower regen than the other shield types, like the way the Gunboat Grav shields are at the moment.

There are plenty of alternative ways to make fighter battles shorter. (I am biting my tongue here because I don't want to get started on armors and how they too cause lack of variety.)

If we're going to go on about now necessary shield busters are vs capital ships, perhaps there is an opportunity here to make torpedoes viable again. (And again, the supernova is end-all be all and there is no real alternative...)

Perhaps some form of cap shield busting torpedo or missile? Even a mine?

Let me ask you a direct question, Orin. Do all your fighters and bombers mount shield-buster guns?

I DO not believe that the Corsairs, who already have the strongest shield busters, should be given a more balanced version of the gun. In essence making the gun the overall best in the game. By making a lesser gun such as the advanced Debilitator, etc. Allows the gun to be less then the most powerful but attractive due to its ability to used by anyone that can get access to it. (Which is everyone. But some of you might have to buy it off the black market.) But that is just my feeling.

//this is based off the fact that the corsairs have the Pulse weapon. Though I am not 100 on who all has pulse shield busters.

Nephthys: Yes.
Eagle: Will.
Praet: Yes.
Taiidan: Yes.
Barghest: Yes.
Greyhound: No.
Stinger: Yes.
Vipers: No, might.

Mostly yes. Point being?

And your suggestion is okay, but it says nothing of making the other shields viable choices once more. That's what I like in this idea.

killhappyfool: That's why the damage output of pulse weapons is being reduced. Please read the first few posts before voting...

Shield buster = pulse.
Both Corsair and Civilian shield busters are pulse weapons. Not Infernos.

I intended to paint you with bias and go on to spar with you on this issue... but I respect you a bit much for that. Most of the time, I agree with you, and when I don't, I understand your argument.

I suppose I have some general irritation at what I call "the blanding." This spurred me on. At any rate taking a few minutes to think, offset this mood. I don't have anything else to say on this specific thing (busters.)

With such a close poll, I will be interested in how it all turns out.

Yeah, I use them because they work well, and I'm not the greatest pilot.

I don't care about anything getting easier or better, I just want the other shields to be feasible choices. Right now, apart from purely RP purposes, they aren't.

I'll say that other than my RM ship, I fly with Graviton Shields... Though I will say that most of my fighters have shield busters. And all of my bombers (which is 2) either have all Debilitators or an Inferno.

Virus approves this change!

I say no. The shields and guns balance fine and the damage difference isn't that bad. Also, many players mount code name and nomad weapons, which are unaffected by shield type. So really it isn't a big deal. (To me at least.) Still, I respect your desire to make the game better, keep it up.

Yes on all shield types taking the same pulse damage. As to damage reduction... I dunno, -10% sounds good.
