blender = 30 minute install 5 min un-install
that or some real good drinks
If you are looking at making stuff for Disco, get Milkshape, the CMP converter, and then something worth while that exports to 3DSMax format.
if you have a little cash go with Hexagon or equivilant, if you have extra cash get 3DSmax, and if you dont have to worry about your budget get Maya or Lightwave.
New stations, upgrading systems, Maybe later adding new ships.
Making interesting things.
Is conversion between Blender and 3DS / Maya / Lightwave / Sequia / fill in the blanks easy enough?
Would a modeling team of one person having Blender, another something else, and another something else,
be easy to intergrate together? I know for warcraft it wasnt that simple going
from Blender to ingame. Is that the situation here as well?
I've had bad conversion experiences with other games before.
But I've never done anything for FL. With all the other things I'm doing, never had time.
I could find out by actually doing it, but most people use 3DS or something else.
Anyone sucessfully used Blender to get models ingame?
Maybe a better question would be... who does modeling here?

ALL 3d models are best saved and transferred in OBJ format.
dont know but check if blender can IMPORT *.obj (or open for that matter)
3DS, Hex, Maya, Lightwave, Poser and even ACad can import and export via OBJ.
Also note that at one point in time I was making ships for a mod. However I did not havew MS3D at the time so another had that and did the conversions and created the needed files, another did the coding, another worked on systems, another built bases. For all transfers we worked in OBJ format until we were ready to import then one of us (myself) would transfer all files into 3DSmax format and then send to the guy with MilkShape so he could import into CMP format.
