"Well, I am never going to be able to join the Armed Forces again. I guess I'll just retire." He looked at Layla. "Maybe you could too. At least we would have more time for children." John just realised that what he just said was a pretty lame thing to do, and that he might regret it... well, it was too late anyway.

Layla winced when John mentioned the word 'children'. He probably assumed that this was a mutual wish, however especially in the past months her wish for children had been gradually diminishing. She was not sure why, maybe because children should be taken care of mainly by their mother, and she feared that with her dangerous daily life she would not be able to provide a child what it deserved? That was he opinion at least. How would a child think of her mother if she was one who was barely around to take care of it? Or how could it be made clear to the child that her mother fulfills an extremely perilous job, where she was exposed to lethal dangers everyday? No, this was defnitely a step Layla was not yet ready to do. Only one thing she knew for sure: she wanted to continue serving in the Armed Forces, it was a part of her life, one she knew she'd never be able to renounce.
"John, I can't retire, I simply can't. Not now, nor in the near future.. It's hard to explain, but I somehow need this, it may sound weird but my duty helps me to remain sane... and I'm not sure... do you think I would be a good mother?" She looked into his eyes, almost supplicatory.
"That is something you should know." He said and put his arm around her shoulders. "Don't worry, I was not too serious anyway."
Uh, that was not so bad. Her reaction was something he would never await. "As for my plans, I will just stick to this residence and play an invalid person who is not able to work anymore."

Seeing that the Rain was getting stronger and hearing thunder in the distance Mike got up and moved back to the estate taking the nearest sidedoor into the entrance hall.
As he entered he heard a Templar take of. Damn are they leaving already?
Mike thought rushing to the front door and looking outside.
Relived he saw that the Ship of the Admiral was still there. Just where is the Admiral?
Taking the steps up into the Bedroom and then out onto the balcony Mike saw that neither Davis nor John where still there.
Well with the Rain pooring down that wasn't a suprise.
Mike went searching for Davis moving through every room he came across, but he refrained himselfe calling for him.
First he went over all the rooms on the second floor which where manly Bedrooms and bathrooms and a small living room.
All the rooms where rather big and all very clean. The colour of the walls was all the same in the bedrooms:
White. And even with white curtains.
Once and again one could hear a thunderstrike from outside with the everlasting pattering of the Rain.
the living room was in strong contrast to the rest of the rooms since it was very dark, with leather couches and with walls clad in Dibetou which was a very dark wood.
Not finding him up there Mike moved down to the first floor.
As he was about to enter the large living room he saw that John and Layla where already sitting on the couch together.
What course of action should he take now?
It seemed that Davis disappeared and to stalk the House wasn't really the desire of Mike. Well Layla didn't slap me so i would say this shouldn't be to akward.
He thought for a moment and then entered the living room from the corridor over which he came. Nice to see that you managed to resolve things.Mike said smiling Somehow I can't find Davis, and without him I don't think I can make it to the next hotel this evening since I don't think there is a cab coming this way soon in this weather.
And to emphasize his statement Thunder struck yet again.
Mike moved up to the bar and leaned on it looking at the various Alcoholic Bottles that where lined up in it.
“This font is good people said, this font is awesome others said, I say it works well enough to waste 2 seconds of your life reading this.”
John turned at the direction where Mike entered, and frowned. "Right, but I don't remember you. Who are you and what you are doing here?" He then looked at Layla, whose face was a bit pale. John really was nervous a bit, still, he could be a burglar...

The idea of him simply retiring and withdrawing from daily life mildly appealed to Layla. They had enough money they could live for a few hundred years while not having to shorten their current expenditures, not that they were living extraordinarily luxurious, apart from the dwelling of course.
Just as she wanted to open her mouth to say something Mike entered the room. Layla facepalmed inwardly. "This is Mike Havering, Lieutenant of the Armed Forces, his presence here is legit honey, don't worry." She already feared John would going to kick him out of the house. "Err, yeah, Davis and Sinclair seem to have withdrawn quickly. You can stay here over the night Mike, second floor, down the corridor, third door on the right side, there should be everything you need." With a gesture she signified him to leave the room quickly.
Alright thanks i'll head up there then.
Mike said and moved of noticing that he was messing things up again.
Already knowing where the Room was since he already inspected the whole second floor Mike found his bedroom fast.
Finding some wine and glasses in a small glass cabinet he took a chair and sat down looking out of the window enjoying the rather excellent wine, while listening to the rain.

The night had been everything but calm. In the morning all felt like newborn, Layla opened her eyes and needed to blink due to the glaring sunlight. It was almost as if she had never opened them in her lifetime, they felt so fresh, unused, rough...
Putting on some sort of robe, Layla silently left the bedroom and went downstairs to fetch a coffee. Soon would she need to get ready and report for the monday morning briefing aboard the Norfolk. Sipping the dark broth and scrolling through the latest news on her pad she was suddenly interrupted in her daily morning ritual. Outside a bird had landed on a flexuous branch of the gnarled tree in front of the kitchen window and sang an exhilarant melody. This was not an ordinary monday, no, definitely not. From this day forth, Layla had a private life again, she was sure about that. She'd venture into the big wide world, or rather universe, while her husband idled at home. An idea rather appealing to Layla.
Johnny woke up to see Layla gone. Nevermind, she has probably went away for a mission. So what he dressed up, and went downstairs. And there he met her. "Morning. You're not away yet?" He asked and fetched some water to drink. Smiling, he noted. "You look great today."

"Hmmm.. no, I still have some time." Layla said, always smiling. They sat next to each other for a while until she left to take a shower and dress up. Dressed in her usual flight uniform she rushed back into the kitchen and said: "I'm assigned to Cambridge today, so I will most likely be able to come back in the evening." She kissed him briefly and left for the main exit. "See you later darling."
On the landing pat there were two Templars ready to take off. Mike was already waiting. Layla greeted him and gave him an amicable handshake. Emitting a loud, humming sound the two fighters dashed into the sky and with their engine trails blending into the colour of the firm sunrays they were soon not visible anymore.
