order remote hunter drone



after years of research - the order has produced prototypes of self sufficient drones based on gathered nomad technology. - these vessels are unmanned and as small as the BHG gunship but significantly more dangerous to vessels of their own size and larger.

swarms of these drones are operated from a safe distance from the new Order Recon destroyer - putting no more of the precious crew into any direct peril.

its just an idea i had ( ever since it became more and more clear that legenation wouldn t show up again with his order gunboat ) - thats just a variation how the order tech - the genuine order tech, not any stolen designs ... could have evolved from their intense study of the nomads and alien artefact technology.

such a ship "could" be balanced as a gunboat / cruiser killer - but totally helpless against fighters and bombers, due to the lack of any weaponry ( 3 F-guns with like no arc and no turrets )

in RP though - it might make sense.... the order has ships to counter any threat - but they do not have a gunboat. - however they also are short on active members - so with their technological edge, they might take a page out of the Wilds book and make a remote gunboat vessel .... and by making it a short range remote - it could also be made much smaller than a gunboat with crew.

* i made that for Stewcool as an idea about Order ship design / concepts and technology. - so really ... its only a play on thoughts...

The idea behind my random pro skills with paint and stuff and jinx talent was to make some special RP ideas(stories) in the future. I need the model for screenshots to make it more real. Then jinx makes random awesome models. That were nothing what I expected for some but always ridiculously hardcore looking

It says a lot about your abilities when your random non-serious projects still look awesome. That gunboat is almost... Cute. Awesome too.

The drone is cool too. I have a character who will rely exclusively on various kinds of remote drones... Had planned on doing a Special RP Request for the Harvester SHF, but that drone would be even better. Of course, I'm guessing it's too late to get it into 4.85, even if you did finish and submit it...

finishing it is no problem in theory - but those are rather "extravagant" concepts that would need to be discussed with the faction - in more serious tones than in this thread. - and what really takes time is balancing the ships. - hitboxing might also take some time ( although those two examples are simple enough to use existing or simple hitboxes - like a tube )

anyway - such "special" ships are always a problem. - when an original concept wishes for a ship that is:

- smaller than the general gunboat
- hits like a truck with its 3 forward guns
- has NO defense other than those limited guns ( its really like a missile boat - an all or nothing vessel )
- demands a certain agility, armour, etc.

it looks good in theory - but who can say if its possible to balance it? - all forward guns are balanced towards ships that have 1 of them and maybe 5-6 other turrets.

about the other concept - its playing around with existing shapes ( lib GB ) - and thinking of adjustments that make it appear "alienated" and at the same time advanced ( besides - it looks much like the GB that was almost finished - cannot remember who made it - turkish or Xing )

its really a shame that legenation hasn t showed up anymore - and we don t have the gunboat. - even if it wasn t a too popular design, it would have been beneficial to give the order their own gunboat. - cause while it looks somewhat funny - when they re flying around in top of the technology gear ... but the only gunboat choice they have is either...

- a piece of junk - by the looks ( no offense corsairs )
- a freighter / gunboat hybrid that doesn t scare even a VHF ( zoners )

however, you foolish mortals have called it a nomad ship one too many times, thus this horrific sight was spawned from my Harddrive:


*NOTE*: the blue is not texture, its just a material color to make the image look more "Nomad" for my purposes in showing it rounded like a nomad ship.
