An embargo would still hurt us quite badly though, which was the case when a certain individual spawned of days old decided to play things his own way and riled up quite a bit of a mob against us.
Anyway... The natural development of the zoners would be to secure independence at all cost. Perhaps... claim another planet in the Omicrons?
' Wrote:Using the Juggernaut would only cripple Zoner strategy. A small population should always rely on mobile, guerrilla warfare, hit and run.
The Zoners don't have the population for any sort of war. Hell, they were afraid of the effects of having Unioners on Freeport 2. Zoners, excepting those in Delta, lack experience in general, largely being non-combat pilots. Compare this to a fleet which sees combat daily.
Using the Juggernaut just centres their strategy on a localised area, making them easy for Bomber Harris to target.
Well, when in doubt, or very low on population numbers, we turn to technology.
In this case; robots/droids to fill in certain roles.
Um, the Zoners have the population, trust me on this. For further details, just get hold of me on skype or something. I don't want to get dragged into a protacted argument over it, though I will go into it hopefully somewhat briefly. In my personal view (which is shared by a number of people, including Igiss), Gran Canaria is a veritable power house and the bulk of the Zoner "nation's" fleet is stationed there, owned largely by the Zoner Council, but also individual ships owned by extremely wealthy freelancers and Zoners who have settled on Gran Canaria. The Zoners control the sole supplies of Deuterium, Iridium and the TAZ Zoners also have their own commodity (which will remain a surprise), as well as producing huge quantities of food and water. The Zoners also have the most extensive information network of any organisation in Sirius (even the Junkers don't have quite as good a network). They also have access to some of the most advanced technology in existence (Order/GMG/spy network).
Either way, the Zoners are powerful and probably have what amounts to at least an entire House military at their call, with the bulk of it stationed at Gran Canaria. The problem is that they have a lot of Freeports that need protecting, so in reality probably only Gran Canaria is untakeable by most conventional forces and organisations. If the Bretonians weren't in a war with Kusari, they would probably be able to send enough forces to take out Gran Canaria, but it would be very, very costly. All the other houses can't really reach it, and the Corsairs have nowhere near sufficient strength, especially not with the war against the Mollys, Bretonia, Outcasts, Hessians, Rheinland, Liberty, GMG etc. The Outcasts can't easily reach Gran Canaria and in any case probably don't much care about it.
And finally, the new bit I have inserted into the end of the Zoner/Zoner Guard ID: The Zoner ID does not make you immune to piracy; pirates may choose at their discretion whether to exempt you.

Robotic destroyer. Lawl.
Zoner technology isn't advanced enough to pull off such a feat, Richard. Perhaps they can build certain ships out of what little they can scrape together, but i hardly belive it to be possible for them to buy the army of androids and \ or robotics needed to fully automate their ships.
What Kuraine says may be true, but anyone reading that must realize that should the Zoners actually take any aggressive action, they will be viewed as Public Enemy Number One.
They have influence all over Sirius, they have bases all over Sirius, and they have pissed off a great deal of people who would rather them not exist, such as the BAF concerning FP1, or the LN when it comes to sheltering criminals.
Because of their situation at hand, should the Zoners upset the status quo, they will not find the Bretonians fighting to take Gran Canaria or FP1, but instead, all the Houses throughout sirius conducting a massive lockdown of everything Zoner.
If they, in any circumstance, pose any form of threat, they will be dealt with because they have the potential to be TOO dangerous.

As for their spy network...Well, I'd have assumed that the order had a better one, that the LSF was the best (as I think it keeps being said, over and over) and I would definitely put the houses above the zoners. I might even put the Hackers above the Zoners.
The statement that the GMG might have some of the most advanced human technology also bothers me.
All in all, I'm rather bothered by Kuriane's assertions, here, and their source, which, in my opinion, isn't at all community driven, or in line with what the community thinks.
I don't think the Zoners are as militaristic as they let on. I'd guess that it's mostly just rumors and speculation, and that only one or two Juggernauts actually exist. The Zoner's main power is their political influence. If they say they have so many Juggernauts or whatever, then they have them, as far as the other factions know. As selfish and greedy as they might be, they are also mysterious. Each faction only really knows so much, and it's in that and their politics that the power of the Zoners lay.
[8:32:45 PM] Dusty Lens: Oh no, let me get that. Hello? Oh it's my grandma. She says to be roleplay.
[12:49:19 AM] Elgatodiablo: You know its nice that you have all that proof and all, Bacon... but I just don't believe you.
i'm saddened that for whatever reason, i've yet to figure out, it seems there can't be a non militaristic factions.
two of the main contenders from vanilla (junkers and zoners) have been turned into military organizations with a full fleet of capships and armies ready to dominate the populace of Sirius.
i'm sorry for the hint of venom, but if we keep this up we'll soon be seeing BMM dreadnaughts flying around for protection.
sure there has been some evolution of the freelancer universe since vanilla but i don't think everyone needs there own military.
maybe i'm talking out of my rear, probably, but everytime i see one of these threads where people talk about a faction that in Vanilla were those traders you see flying past as you go to save the galaxy, are now a short time later flying juggernauts and have an army large enough to overthrow a house.......just sets wrong with me.
the junkers haul junk, they make good money at it and want to stay out of the lime light.
the zoners fled society because they didn't like what the governments of whichever house they fled from had to offer or take.
i've never liked either being some secret military powerhouse who are feared by all.
in my eyes they had the best RP potential out of most factions, now they look more like just a normal house military.
By making everyone powerful...well, where do we fit the balance of power? And, moreover, the interesting and fun, full of opportunity Zoners, now they're apparently a combination of the LSF, the Order, and IC. I'll note that we already have such factions..its a little bit repetitive.
To me, zoners are insignificant. They aren't too different from Freelancers to my eyes.
If I could, I would deny the existence of their capital ships and their trade ships.
