My opinion is, we should be more sympathetic to new players.
I've seen a few situations lately, where players were a bit hotheaded to new players in conversations like,
''change your ship/get new ID/fix your Reputation/stop using nomad guns/halt or i shoot'',
without any decent explanation to "why?"
I think there should be some sympathy to new players, by having educational sanctions and dialogue between them and the admins.
For example, a new Corsair in a Titan gets reported for using Krakens and Buckshots. Instead of simply removing all his weapons, the Admins could replace the OORP weapons with Salamancas, teaching him that they are a good in-character choice for a Corsair.
Rule-breaking from newer players should be treated with education, in mild cases. The admins could talk to the player about the problem, warn them, or if the situation deserves it, a sanction can be applied. Of course, this would apply mostly to the OORP ship / equipment rules, simple pvp infringements etc. Swearing, threats and modding should be dealt with harshly (banhammer)
Quite a few sanctions are for new player cursing and swearing. Thats just people feeling un-touchable due to the internet barrier.
People re-engaging or bringing out another char to get revenge is the result when the barrier is broken somewhat due to them getting Pirated or shot down. (These are the traders who just keep moving forwards when CD'ed and told to halt, By both Police and Pirates)
If they are going to be like that then you need to Sanction them because theres nothing that a player can do to stop them or solve the problem.
Thats the Internet Barrier, Admins can cross it to digitaly slap them about.
If they threaten to leave. So what? the other hundreds of people wont miss them.

My advise to that would be to join a faction soon after they join. Its what I did and it really shortened my "learning" period because I was taught by veteran players.

True true. Same here. But it is not really mandatory, people can teach them even if they do not join a faction. Just try it, try finding every day a newbie that is willing to learn, give them advice, give them some random menial task and if they perform it without a grudge and well, reward them with cash(not too much, 100-200 K will produce a lot of gratitude), just make them earn it.

I kind of new here... Started 6 months ago or somthing like that. First thing that imprest me is battleships and cruisers. I think you understand that as folows my first ship was cruiser. Thats not a bad thing because that ship was my teacher. Mad players allways warned me about things and my next ship was fighter with freelancer id. And the only thing i ewer needed is not welcome message or rules thrown by my nose, but TIME. So lets give noobies some time to adapt.
If new player is young he cant neither participate in forum chats neither reade the rools. Dont try to explain people how to play the game let them learn how to do it by them selfs. Help only if it becomes till brink of sanction..
Thats prety much ewerything.
BTW RP should be explained thats the only thing i never realy understud...
But now I do understand!;)
P.S. i was baned after 3 weeks of playing for weponmod. When i came back when ban was removed got sanctionised with unreal story. Second BEST thing that new player should be warned is getting a screener or recorder:)
I think that the PvP rules should also be added to the starting items. This would make it clear on those rules for starting players, even if it doesn't cover ALL the rules, at least they'd have some basic understanding.
I myself looked on the forums and saw PvP rules after my first encoutner and death from a pirate, but after some time I saw PvP rules on New Berlin and my thought was that it should've been added to starting equipment.
