today i was warned that i, as member of CR cant use tizionas on my viper as part of role play...
i can understand that planetform isnt exactly allied with corsairs...but since they are only level 9 shield busters that i know of wouldnt that put us in sort of difficult postition regarding pvp...
to be clear, i can live without tizionas and i wont cry about them...but i would much rather carry them then search for alternate but weaker weps...
so if anybody can clear this matter for me i would be thankfull
The only other shield buster is the civilian series, usually sold on agiera and other civilian bases, class 8 is the best they do.
The only downsides are you can see when someone has one (the tizona is invisible) and it does less damage.
The salamanca mk 2 doesn't do the same about of shield damage, it's a neutron cannon not a pulse cannon, it's the pulse cannons that do loads of shield damage and little hull damage.
POSSIBLE SPOILER AHEAD
Rough figures are:-
salamanca mk 2: 250 shield per shot, 480 hull.
Tizona del cid: 1000 shield, 50 hull.
Also, if you want tizonas, but can't land on a corsair base... grab a friend or two and goto delta, kill corsairs because they drop tizona guns. Just because you can't buy them doesn't mean you can't loot them.
Though be warned, they dish out alot of firepower so if you intend to go kill corsairs to loot their weapons take at least two friends with you, or you'll end up dying alot.
so basically all faction can use all weapons....no matter of their affiliation...
except if faction leader says different...
maybe that should be part of the role play rules to avoid more confused players
There is no rules about RPing weapons unless the faction leader of that faction says otherwise.
As you've been told you can't use the tizonas due to your factions RP theres nothing stopping you from checking the agiera bases in liberty to get and try an advanced debilitator, they do work, one of the sso| uses them.
The only reason tizonas and coladas are the only pulse weapons commonly used is because they do more shield damage then any others, theres no RP reason for it at all.
[CR] doesn't regulate what weapons we use. All our combat craft carry freelancer IDs to avoid these limitations and because cap ships aren't allowed corporate IDs. I have a pair of tizonas on my viper that I killed to get, even made an rp story to go along with it. Now, if there were some balancing done to give all factions comparable weapons, and if there were some ruling that all factions had to follow we would change this policy.
I find it amusing that someone outside of the faction was preaching to you about our rules.
OK people, there's a reason for the Tizonas existing in this game, which seems to escape everybody. I'll try reminding you all:
- anyone remember a tank called 'Titan Very Heavy Fighter' (how does it fly?)
- anyone remember the word 'balance' (what does it mean? you certainly don't eat balance...)
HTH!
If the stars should appear one night in a thousand years, how would men believe and adore and preserve for many generations the remembrance of the city of God? - from 'Nightfall' by I. Asimov The Outcasts consider Siniestre Nube a sacred place for several reasons. Early explorers discovered a jumphole within the depths of the cloud that leads to a strange world of ringed stars and strange craft. All ships in the burrial ground are placed facing that hole to honor the Alien Spirits. - An Outcast rumor
I keep hearing about factions nobly castrating their ships in the name of balance but I haven't seen any of these ships on the server yet. Everyone has a set of nomads, tizonas and nova torps squrelled away for the rainy day (at least those I've tangled with so far.) And if they die trying to kill you with RP-sensitive weapons chances are the next time you meet that person they are going to have the big guns out.
Balance is good. Balance means the game is more about skill than equipment. But I wont presume to think that putting lesser weapons on my ship is going to balance the game, its just gonna make me tizona-fodder.
I have to say, certainly in my defence, all but one of my fighters have no shield busters whatsoever,
even though my RP says they are available to me. The other has just the one.
All my weps have a pretty good RP reason for being there. The 'win at all costs' situation is creeping
back in it seems.
So currently, if you can't beat them, join them, is the order of the day ...
Back to one design fighters again ...
